Tax breaks for castle owners

ROTF!!! http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/ima...ilies/lmao.gif

Quote:

A TORY MP has risked infuriating struggling families hit by tax rises and benefits cuts by calling for a tax break for CASTLE owners.

Tony Baldry said in a Commons debate that more needed to be done to help aristocrats who owned ancient buildings.

The former Margaret Thatcher aide said last week: “The owners of historic houses in no way wish to be rentiers on the state.

“But in consideration of the fact that they continue to provide public access to their homes, and of the broader community and national benefit of historic houses, we have an interest in trying to get the balance right.”

But his comments have sparked outrage.

Labour’s John Mann MP said: “Only an out of touch Tory MP could argue that people who own castles should be first in the queue for tax breaks.

“Does he want us to pay for them to clean their moats as well?”

One of the MP’s constituents, Bernard Bovingdon, is fighting to save Bicester Day Centre, in Oxon.

Mr Bovingdon said: “The bloke in the castle, that’s a tough life for him. I don’t think MPs should be pandering to the rich.”

"Tory"? That's English for "Republican", right?

Figures.

In fairness, castles are expensive to upkeep. Now if they decide they don't need castles, they can let them go to ruin...

If they get a tax break, do the have to let the great unwashed go fishing in their moat?

oh yes fishing

I just can't get this image out of my mind: sitting on the banks of a gentle stream shooting unsuspecting fish as they swim by.

for protection of course ;)

I don't know why I though of this and had the need to share but you can go on with the thread now. :D

It's just how all that backwoods imagery sits in my head.

I mean, I'd bring a six pack.

The only time I ever caught a fish in my life was when I was about 9. I was sitting on the bank of a river (more like a glorified stream) with my buddy and after hours of messing with worms strings and hooks a fish comes floating down stream. We got so excited that my buddy garbed the tackle box (Thom McCain shoe box) jumped into the river and and scooped it's dead ass up!

Never bothered again.

Dep't of Conservation uses a generator.

About all an M80's good for is flushing down the toilet at school.

You're doing two things wrong.

1st, rotten fish don't taste so good, I don't reckon.

2nd, I can wipe out the better part of a 6-pak just casting off the lines at the dock. Ya gotta take way more beer!!!

Don't worry we didn't eat it. We traded it for a live praying mantis. It was a great day!

Besides unless a fish is frozen and stamped "product of Vietnam" I won't eat it.

As to a six pack not being enough, I simply though it best not to show my cards. :p
