Live, love, laugh.

Turn off the TV, log off the internet. We need to relax, have some fun and laugh more. All of us

I've got a doomscrolling habit. Maybe need to join a 10-step group.

Good advice.

Sound advice. I've already cut back on watching TV news and reading the newspapers.

I've cut back in looking at on-line news the only source i view, but should cut back even more. The better times of recent years are over so must adjust accordingly.

finnbow 01-27-2025 07:14 AM

I swore off cable news years ago and get my news from reading trusted sources (which are getting fewer in number). Ignoring what's going on risks allowing Fat Donnie to get away with even more undemocratic shit as he "floods the zone with shit."

I agree with the Live Laugh Love, but have to agree with finnbow that I won't bury my head in the sand for the very reason he stated. I too gave up on MSM.
It sure is hard to stay positive these days.

I do not see anything to laugh about under this administration unless I block out all news and that is living in a vacuum. Planning to retire this year and looking into relocating to another country which will be an escape at best, but may be worth it.

Not boycotting the news (keep your enemies closer), but since the new administration has began with chaos in earnest, it gets awfully tiring.

Log off the internet. No. There are so many things to learn and keep the brain active, especially at my age. A new language, space and the universe, house maintenance skills, myriad of subjects. The internet is a boon to the curious and proactive.

... as well as to miscreants, liars and tyrants. It cuts both ways.

Long before the election quit watching most popular cable TV news channels. Still watch local at 6 and national at 630. May watch PBS at 7 or catch a BBC every few days.

Get my feed for BBC and NPR radio plus read Reuters occasionally.

Here lately been getting kick out of using my phone at the Y debunking something said.
Searching right in front of them and showing news stories from AP USA Today CNN.... totally blowing their Blaa Blaa Blaa away, showing it to be pure BS. To be informed it may well not be true, they still believe it...... Now how to you fight stupid!

If one (not you) spends all day online that can't be good for the soul.

No shit. It could lead one to believe in the wonder of Elon Musk.;)

This old Washington Post paperboy finally cut the cord. Jeff Bezos can go fuck himself. Sub runs out in March, will not be sending any money his way again.

Bezos provided jobs for what is a drowning enterprise.

And he's the one holding its head under water.

A legend in his own mind.

How much of Musk’s wealth comes from tax dollars and government help?

Quote:

It’s worthwhile to ask just how much of his world-leading net worth comes from government help over the last 10 to 15 years. The answer is not simple.

By some measures, little of his wealth is thanks to taxpayers. Musk is worth an estimated $326 billion, according to Bloomberg’s real-time billionaire tracker. His companies have received “only” tens of billions from government contracts and programs.

But in other ways, virtually all of his net worth can be pinned to government help. Tesla and SpaceX got started – and survived their early days – with assistance from state and federal policies, government contracts and loans.

“The foundation for Musk’s financial success has been the US government,” said Daniel Ives, tech analyst for Wedbush Securities.

And the value of Tesla and SpaceX doesn’t come from their profits so far.

Instead, their value comes from investments in their future worth, such as Tesla’s publicly traded stock and private funding rounds for SpaceX.
