"Liz Cheney Could Be in a Lot of Trouble."

No matter which side you look at it from, she's in the crosshairs and therefore she's IN a lot of trouble. I hope Biden notices this and acts accordingly prior to his departure.

Anything he does that pisses off the Maggers I'm in favor of.

See, now this is the kind of thinking that just makes matters worse. Listen , I get that Trump and his cronies and their supporters are annoying and dangerous, but what if, instead of trying to piss them off , we look for common ground and try to find something, anything we could work together on.

Liz did it with the Democrats. You think in normal times she'd be anywhere near a Democratic Party presidential campaign podium? You think ten years ago she had anything good to say about any Democrat anywhere?

"Liz Cheney Could Be in a Lot of Trouble."

In normal times we did not have a president incite an insurrection.

So you'd prefer to escalate? You want to crank up the temperature some more and stir the pot? The atmosphere of civil unrest we're currently enjoying isn't enough for you?

I'm not saying we need to subscribe to all the MAGA nonsense and conspiracy what-have-you, but you need to understand that half the country is VERY PISSED OFF and it might be a good idea to try and figure out why and think of ways to de-escalate rather than agitate them further.

The Jan 6 committee was doing their job trying to hold Trump accountable for unethical behavior. Trump is now escalating things with his campaign promise of retribution.

Let's get real. Being nice to MAGA people online is not going to affect anything to better or worsen the situation. People should feel free to blow off steam. What we actually need to to is things like 1) Support opposition politicians who have some ability to oppose Trumpian transgressive and harmful policies, 2) Support NGOs acting to do same through lobbying or in court, 3) PARTICULARLY be active in your community supporting local government agencies and institutions to influence them to the good and help them withstand any MAGA pressure, and 4) make plans as seems prudent to provide for your own safety*. The last certainly should include being civil with your neighbors even if you disagree with their politics. (This also means don't mouth off on the neighborhood chat board the way you might in a nationwide venue.)

*See Timothy Snyder's "On Tyrrany."

Newton said it best: "To every action there is always opposed an equal reaction". And this saying applies beyond just physics.

Trying to find common ground with MAGAts is asinine like accepting that Trump's lies are actually the truth, J6 was an Open House and Trump is the best president ever. You do realize that these are the minimum requirements.

Liz Cheney along with all the others now looking to be persecuted by the incoming administration. Guilty of only attempting to follow and enforce the laws set down upon this MAGA group and their leader.

She and others in this group may well turn down any pardon. Choosing to fight, force the accusers to put up or shut up. Taking a pardon is or may well be just what the MAGA's want.

Feel from what I have seen of Liz she has more back bone and integrity. Taking a pardon will be hard for her to stomach.

I hope Liz and others on the Jan 6th committee are well protected from the Mango Mussolini.
They have done nothing wrong, unlike the Mango and MAGA.

The Speech and Debate clause of the Constitution protects them completely and totally. This is just more bloviating from Trump and his brownshirts.

Maybe I could have said if Biden were to do something that pisses Maggers off I wouldn't care. The party leadership spends so much time riling up the party faithful it's a waste of time to respond to it. Common ground to the Maggers is agreeing that they are right and everyone else is wrong. Appeasement never works

Gotta' have a "Look over there" item to distract from not really accomplishing much of anything, again.

Right. When the Special FBI show up at midnight to drag you into a black van, the Speech and Debate Clause of the Constitution will completely beat them up and assure your escape?

Or when the show trial is on, and the judge, completely ignoring the Constitution, says 'Motion denied! Now sit down or I will find you in contempt!,' will the Speech and Debate Clause show up, brilliantly tell off the Judge and the Prosecutor, then wreck the room, defeat dozens of uniformed minions, and lead you to freedom?

I hear ya, but I just don't see it. Trump and his minions plumb new depths of incompetence every day. They'd fuck up a wet dream.

Enemies are frequently not the devilish geniuses our fears make them, nor are they the harmless fools our contempt makes them. All in all, they are pretty sure to come out average in performance for a collective endeavor. So what others have pulled off in the past, they will likely be able to pull off. We have examples of police states that have functioned in the past.

Good insight.
