Rightwing Militias A Growing Threat?
Up in the backwoods and mountain towns in North Carolina/Tennessee there are reports of 'Cajun Navy' self tagged assholes threatening FEMA personnel with the FEMA people being pulled out for most of the day when they could be helping folks out by clearing downed trees in a safe manner and getting supplies to some needy souls.
I don't get it... Send in some National Guard troops and put a stop to this gangsterism created by Republicans and their leaders. https://www.washingtonpost.com/weath...a-email-shows/ |
Violent threats against FEMA swirl on social media / People are calling for violence against FEMA on TikTok and X, new reports say.

"The sheriff's office in Rutherford County, NC, announced Monday that they'd arrested a man and charged him with allegedly threatening to harm Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) workers in the area.
William Parsons, 44, of Bostic, NC, was charged with "going armed to the terror of the public," according to a statement from the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office provided to ABC News." ABC continued here - https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/ar...na/ar-AA1sfjrT |

I feel (note I am not certain) you know this to be true since you have a better knowledge of the world than most here. China has scared crap out of the western alliance. They have just awaken to the magnitude of that threat. Here is a portion of such threat. https://www.wired.com/story/how-chin...-at-the-wheel/ |

That is not what MAGA so admires about him. They like his assault on the free press, judiciary, higher education and the electoral system, not to mention his ethnocentrism. They would love to do the same here. |
MAGA AKA .... Making America Gullible Again
As to the followers...... Most that I can stomach talking to really don't care what Trump does or not do. They hate this society where they are not in the driver seat. Feel that they are being left behind or powerless. Have a misplaced concept of reality after watching New Max Fox ....... and prefer it that way. When pushed will answer.... "well that is what I believe and I do not care at all if wrong". Or go with the tried and true..... "you can't believe anything anymore anyway".... Just what Putin and Xi likes and wants..... |

Also IMHO if the USA falls to this authoritarian fascist movement I see the planet on a whole will be effected.
Now other country or countries will be powerful enough to fight back for long. With the current climate issues and energy resources. I foresee many years of unrest ahead. Groups like the White Supremacist will only grow in numbers unless dealt with strongly. |

I will take back the reference to violence. |

Butt seriously Don, , , guilt/persecution complex much  I won't stand in the way of your man crush on your beloved pootie patootie :D |

No need to, it establishes your mindset perfectly ;) |
MAGA will collapse unto itself. It is entirely dependent on a very erratic leader whom the powers that be initially underestimated. Now watch them wrap him up.

I do not "hate" anybody, including Donald Trump. I pity him, as I truly believe the poor guy IS delusional. Good Grief, he spent 30 minutes of his last campaign stop dancing to his pre made song playlist! If he's the best the Republicans have got, they're in more trouble than Eddie Haskell  https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/don...ity-rcna175464 |
The MAGA crowd is gonna be around for sometime.
The current focus at the center of will matter little in the long run. He is not the driving force rather the distraction. Others are pulling the strings and planning. He is just the one now being used to distract the masses. For all he cares about is being adored and pampered. Once gone another will come forth. Manufactured by the handlers to feed the MAGA Cult. |
Pootie Patootie is overrated. He is a distraction. Lloyd Austin early in Biden admin tried to make that point and he was shut down. In a big debate Austin and others were pointing to Xi and China but they lost.
A famous comment was: China? Come on man. |

I'm not much of a fan of the "party" system anyway, I believe it should be "The Party of the United States of America, period. But, if we're gonna have what's essentially a two party system, I'd much rather see two healthy parties, led by the centrists among them seeking to find common ground VS dividing the country. I do believe right now it's the Democrats seeking that common ground, and the (MAGA) Republicans determined to burn that TO the ground. I too believe there will be "interesting times" ahead, as the "Tea Party" which has morphed into "MAGA" again morphs into something far more sinister, something like armed militias threatening FEMA officials, for instance. |
On that last part, the armed militias threatening FEMA workers thing. What was the hoped for result? Was/is chasing off the FEMA workers was/is the aim? To what end? Someone help me out here because I'm not up on MAGA think.

A deeper look at what sparked this thread. Well worth the read.
'How a conspiracy-fueled group got a foothold in this hurricane-battered town' "Over the course of 11 days, a supermarket parking lot became a snapshot of the chaos that can unfold in some corners of post-disaster America." WaPo "LAKE LURE, N.C. — It started with hot coffee. Hurricane Helene had just cut off this already isolated foothill town from everything: power, water, information. Paralyzed, the only thing that residents Carin Harris and Hilary Yoxall could think to do was post up outside their Ingles supermarket and hand out something warm. Soon, donations began to pour in, and a makeshift supplies distribution center emerged from a parking lot off the main two-lane road." https://www.washingtonpost.com/weath...battered-town/ p.s. If you're a constant complainer about paywalls? Google will happily show you many ways around paywalls. I happen to have a sub to the Post. |
