Up in the backwoods and mountain towns in North Carolina/Tennessee there are reports of 'Cajun Navy' self tagged assholes threatening FEMA personnel with the FEMA people being pulled out for most of the day when they could be helping folks out by clearing downed trees in a safe manner and getting supplies to some needy souls.

I don't get it...

Send in some National Guard troops and put a stop to this gangsterism created by Republicans and their leaders.

"Under a microscope" implies a high level of scrutiny to ascertain the truth/facts. Trump and MAGA have no intention of ascertaining the facts or truth. They want to contrive a false narrative that they feel will help them, notwithstanding the damage it does to the citizenry. This is true in Springfield, OH, Aurora, IL and with the hurricanes.

Most that I can stomach talking to really don't care what Trump does or not do. They hate this society where they are not in the driver seat. Feel that they are being left behind or powerless. Have a misplaced concept of reality after watching New Max Fox ....... and prefer it that way.

The current focus at the center of will matter little in the long run. He is not the driving force rather the distraction. Others are pulling the strings and planning. He is just the one now being used to distract the masses. For all he cares about is being adored and pampered.

Don, I do believe the MAGA movement has already fractured the Republican party. There are the very vocal MAGAs, and then there are other Republicans who see the MAGA "movement" for the farce that it is. Respectable Republicans like Mitt Romney and Charlie Baker will have nothing to do with Trump and his movement, neither will Liz Cheney and others.

I'm not much of a fan of the "party" system anyway, I believe it should be "The Party of the United States of America, period. But, if we're gonna have what's essentially a two party system, I'd much rather see two healthy parties, led by the centrists among them seeking to find common ground VS dividing the country. I do believe right now it's the Democrats seeking that common ground, and the (MAGA) Republicans determined to burn that TO the ground.

I too believe there will be "interesting times" ahead, as the "Tea Party" which has morphed into "MAGA" again morphs into something far more sinister, something like armed militias threatening FEMA officials, for instance.

On that last part, the armed militias threatening FEMA workers thing. What was the hoped for result? Was/is chasing off the FEMA workers was/is the aim? To what end? Someone help me out here because I'm not up on MAGA think.

So the MAGAts can claim that Biden and by extension Harris did not help those displaced by Hurricane Helene. Earlier today there were commenters on WaPo claiming that SBA running out of money is Biden's fault, not the House or its leader not funding the program.
