Elon 'Boom, Boom' Muskmelon's BFG Rocket Failed
'SpaceX's Starship launch kicked up soil and sand that rained down on a nearby beachside town 5 miles away'

Shame it happened.
There are always many such occurrences in every space programs. Costly, will hopefully help the next launch. |
First launch of this rocket. If you have no problems on the first launch do you trust the design? No! Not a failure as they probably have a lot of really good data.
|
Not a fan of Musk, but my understanding is that for this initial test they were happy it made it off the ground at all.

If I were deciding whether SpaceX gets another dollar from the US Treasury it would require that Musk has nothing to do with it. (Gratuitous insult deleted.) |
Looks like the market is saying the new car smell and his rocket bilge wash has lost it's cachet.
"Shares of Tesla tumbled nearly 10% Thursday following its disappointing earnings report on Wednesday evening, as it reported that its profit margins fell below the 20% mark that analysts had been forecasting. The price cuts might have allowed it to increase sales volume, but revenue was down from fourth-quarter levels as a result, and which led to the squeeze on profits." https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/tops...b42ab002&ei=24 Elon dudebro has no business in the retail market. Whether it's cars or emeralds. |

Anyhow I do not think the US government is going to be that particular, that holy. Check "Operation Paperclip". Mr Hyperloop is a dreamer whom the military industry dearly cherishes. |

Elon Musk sells Tucker Carlson his conservative vision of progress.
From the POLITICO article: Musk is no reactionary, and progress is not the exclusive domain of the left. The man has a very distinct set of social and cultural beliefs that he seeks to propagate through his various technological and business endeavors. When the beliefs in question were, for example, the importance of clean energy, Musk was a hero to progressives. Now that it's the social-media equivalent of a Hobbesian state of nature, or a pro-natalist attitude that many on the left view as retrograde or eugenicist, he is a villain. https://politico.com/news/magazine/2...rlson-00092904 |

His costly incompetent side hustle @ Twitter is to control the narrative under the guise of "free speech", his free speech.

HAWTHORNE, CA (The Borowitz Report)—One day after SpaceX’s first test flight of its Starship craft, Elon Musk claimed that the rocket exploded in midair because it insisted on working remotely.
“Starship was performing perfectly well when it was on the launchpad,” Musk said. “The trouble began when it left.” “I urged Starship against working remotely, but it insisted,” he added. “Well, who was right?” The SpaceX C.E.O. said that Starship’s misadventure should be a lesson to all those employees who insist on working from home. “If you work remotely, you, too, will explode,” he warned. |
'What’s that going up in flames? Why, it’s Elon Musk’s reputation'
..."For years the billionaire convinced an embarrassing number of people that he was a visionary who was going to save the world. Increasingly, however, he is being revealed as an incompetent narcissist who is doing his best to set his brand on fire. Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Nope, it’s the rapid unscheduled disassembly of Elon Musk’s reputation." https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/opini...feb846d&ei=106 For an allegedly smart guy he sure has that King Midas in reverse thing in spades. |
