Dominion Takes The Money, Smartmatic Wants More

Good. These assholes at Fox News deserve all the shit coming their way and more.

I can't wait to see what Smartmatic does to this nest of cretins. $2.7 billion on top of 787.5 million ought to put a crimp in their business.

"Fox News’s legal troubles related to the 2020 presidential election are far from over, despite its massive settlement with Dominion Voting Systems announced Tuesday afternoon.

The media company also faces a $2.7 billion defamation lawsuit filed by another voting technology company, Smartmatic, that alleges Fox broadcast lies that “decimated” its business." WP

Will Faux finally get the message and fire all their lying fascists? No, they’d all just move over to one of the other Reich-wing propaganda networks.

RickeyM 04-19-2023 07:31 AM

Sorely disappointed. Dominion had FAUX dead to rights. Before the week is out the Reich-wing eco system will be saying Dominion settled because they knew they had no case. FAUX news* on their part will say as little as possible or nothing at all about the incidents leading to the settlement that would help Smartmatic in their case.
In the meantime FAUX news* will continue to be the Reich-wing's primary propaganda outlet. They got caught pushing tRump's big lie about the election but every other lie they're pushing will continue unabated.

Pio1980 04-19-2023 09:01 AM

Our local Sinclair owned ABC bullshit anus did a special on "Biden family crime investigations" in a must-run local news segment, not a peep on the Fox/Dominion settlement.

barbara 04-19-2023 10:05 AM

I'm disappointed too. I wanted Dominion to drag Fox through the whole court experience. I wanted to see Tucker and Hannity sweat on the witness stand. I wanted it all!

Oerets 04-19-2023 12:40 PM

Unless FOX was shut down by the lawsuit. Their Zombie followers would never be effected by the revelations and admissions from any trial.

Dominion loss money getting the piss poor admission from FOX. We know that FOX would of paid more for not having to even say what they did say.

I wish Dominion had gotten a better admission of guilt!

RickeyM 04-19-2023 02:42 PM

Dominion made it all about the money when it should have been about a lot more. Now let's see what Smartmatic does.

BigElCat 04-19-2023 06:25 PM

All these big money hits are contributing to the devaluation of the US dollar as an international currency.

It's in a serious decline.

And it doesn't fix anything, else, either. (IMHO) Other than making a few select people temporarily wealthy.

Why would Tucker be sweating?

I suspect we will have your question answered when Smartmatic's attorneys perform a full proctological exam in public on your hero. Just a guess. (grin)

$2.7 Billion is going to put a hitch in Murdoch's gait.

Tucker is the only Fox presenter who said publicly and privately that the charge against Dominion was bullshit.

He told Sydney Powell openly that he would not give her time on his platform unless she could provide evidence. This caused some problem for Tucker with the Fox audience.

However there is always an effort from the non Fox MSM to project Tucker.

You mean the same Tucker who said he hated Trump passionately but then fawned over him last week? The same Tucker who wanted to fire a Fox reporter for slipping up and telling the truth?

What that has to do with Dominion and its effects on the voting process?

There were no effects of Dominion machines on the voting process. I can't help but surmise that your attraction to Tucker has to do with his willingness to be Putin's useful idiot.

Dominion is a business, not a political organization.

It should have been about punishing FAUX news* for the harm they've done by promoting a falsehood. Nothing political about that. FAUX gets to write a check and walk away without any contrition, without admitting any wrong on their part, without any accountabilities by the actors involved. FAUX has to pay a hefty settlement, but they'll get over it. Call it a business expense.

Ike Bana 04-23-2023 08:43 AM

Don't blame Dominion for the shortcomings of the US legal system (don't call it a justice system, any justice doled out is completely incidental}.

Dominion knew what would happen when it went to trial and they won. It would be appealed for years, and even though it would have held up to appeal, the word goes out to the world right now that FOX committed defamation, even though the terms of the settlement were that they didn't have to admit it. Always the terms of such settlements. But everybody knows that FOX wouldn't have settled if they could have won.

And Dominion still has other suites going. From the NY Times...

Quote:

Dominion may have settled this suit, but its legal pursuits are far from over. The company still has defamation suits related to allegations of election fraud pending against Fox competitors Newsmax and OAN, as well as against the MyPillow chief executive Mike Lindell, Overstock.com founder Patrick Byrne, and against Rudy Giuliani and Sidney Powell, both former lawyers for Donald J. Trump.

Great. The money Fox has to pay is tax deductible. That means it's tax deductable if they pay Smartmatic.

https://www.yahoo.com/finance/news/f...120054140.html

That's from the AP, not Yahoo.

Originally, only corporations could be taxed. It became the individual worker, also, in 1914. Now corporations don't pay any taxes, just lawyers.

July 12 (Reuters) - Steve Bannon and Michael Flynn, two allies of former U.S. President Donald Trump, must answer questions under oath in voting technology company Smartmatic's defamation lawsuit against right-wing media outlet Newsmax, court records showed on Wednesday.

Florida-based Smartmatic served subpoenas on Bannon, who served as a White House strategist under Trump, and Flynn, who briefly served as national security adviser, on Wednesday, according to documents filed in Delaware state court.

If you think any chunks that come spewing out of Carlson's mouth were designed to reign in Donald Trump, you have dementia.

I think the basis for his attraction to Tucker is that Tucker was Putin's most prominent useful idiot with the biggest microphone (other than Trump, of course). Excerpts from Tucker's nightly slurping of Putin made it on to Russian state media almost every day.

I still haven't figured out the basis for Dondilion's love of Putin though.

There's something wrong with someone who will post a quip like this...

"...a reckless President Trump."

But at the same time, we all know that if the choice is between Donald Trump and any nominee from the Democrats...that D. will vote for Donald Trump.

Will he deny it? Who gives a shit? The guy has no integrity, his inside and his outside don't match up. He will say he does one thing, or he thinks something, and then it's...Trump was the best thing since sliced bread. He makes Mikey whell seem like a breath of fresh air.

NY Appeals Court Rejects Fox Bid to Dismiss $2.7 Billion Smartmatic Defamation Lawsuit

A New York state appeals court rejected Fox's bid to dismiss a $2.7 billion defamation lawsuit by voting machine company Smartmatic over statements made on air after the 2020 U.S. presidential election, Reuters reported on Thursday.

The decision was issued by a five-judge panel of the Appellate Division in Manhattan.

Fox Corporation and Fox News Network were both named in the 2021 lawsuit, as were on-air personalities Lou Dobbs, Maria Bartiromo, Jeanine Pirro, frequent Fox commentator Rudy Giuliani and attorney Sidney Powell, who was indicted along with Donald Trump in the Georgia election fraud case.

I can already hear the little piggies a'squealing.

Good.

4r54r5 01-10-2025 06:42 AM

From the MSN article "...Smartmatic's damages claims are implausible, disconnected from reality, and on their face intended to chill First Amendment freedoms."
Boy, that's rich... I would say Fox news reporting is equally implausable and disconnected from reality, if not more so.
