Great Speech Obama

WTF was that? What's up with the window thing??? Alvin Greene would have done a better job. I bet B.P. is drawing up the bankruptcy paperwork right now.

Twodogs 06-15-2010 08:18 PM

I'd just like to hear him give one speech without saying "Let me be clear". He's fished that pond dry a few times over. All this was, was a primer for cap and tax, even though he admitted we don't have the money. I hope all the asshats that voted for him are happy.:(

djv8ga 06-15-2010 08:21 PM

Oh please! A speech without "Green", "Let Me Be Clear", or the most used of all..."COMPREHENSIVE". It's a circus!!!

Absolutely.

He's better than any option that was available, significantly better than any Republican available, now.

"Asshat?"

Really, Zeke?

Name calling aside, I did not see the speach. Maybe I can catch it somewhere today.

What taxes does he want to raise now, Gas ?

piece-itpete 06-16-2010 08:45 AM

Reminded me of a commercial running around here lately for a lawyer - 'I'll make them pay'.

How about 'next time before shooting my mouth off about more drilling I'll have the regulator agency responsible for them thoroughly vetted, my apologies'?

Pete

finnbow 06-16-2010 09:31 AM

Didn't see it, but I had a good excuse. My 15 year old son's band was playing a gig celebrating the end of the school year.

Like Obama or not, last night's speech was intended as CYA political theater. I'll settle for The Daily Show's take on it tonight.

It's a Bird ! No, it's a Plane ! No, it's Barak the Magic Negro 'n' his pal, Cap'n Tax ! Stomping out Eeevil Oil Companies & their scurrilous ways wherever he finds 'em...Mbwahahaha...

I don't know about the, um, "asshats", but I'm quite happy with him. I think he's doing a good job. Getting a lot done.

Not sure what it is exactly people want him to do about this situation. It's a tough one. But I think he'll do as well as can be done with it. There's no "win" here.

It's a bird, it's a plane, NO! It's His High Holiness Ronnie Reagan, and his "Business will self-regulate" Conservatard Army led by General George WMD Bush!

Still waiting for BP to "Plug the hole"? What is it, Day 58 now?

Thought private business could handle things with no help from Uncle Sam?

Hows that workin' out?

Dave

BlueStreak 06-16-2010 12:08 PM

Actually, I'm thinking maybe the government should do absolutely nothing? Just stand back and let the "no regulation, government out of everything" types drown in the oily, polluted muck that is their ideology?

Maybe that's what's happening?

Dave

piece-itpete 06-16-2010 12:13 PM

Sure looks like it.

BP acceded today to the President's demand to establish a $20billion fund for victims reparations. Who was it talking about the people expecting reparations from the Exxon Valdez are still awaiting payment. Doesn't look like that is going to happen here. Does $20,000,000,000 amount to an ass kicking?

Regards,

D-Ray

I have no problem with holding BP accountable.

20B is chump change these days. I don't even consider anything raising the National debt unless it's in Trillions. Just wait for the big old Tax and Cap machine to get rolling now. I guess I shouldn't bitch though, since I'm a Union guy and will be able to afford all the new taxes thanks to my obscene wage, benefits, and retirement packages.:p

Chas

BTW: Classy post!!!

merrylander 06-17-2010 06:57 AM

I see by Broder's OpEd piece in today's WashPost that busness is sitting on $1,84 Trillion in cold cash. He claims it is because they are afraid of a double dip recession which as far as I am concerned is BS. Just wait until after November and watch them spend, spend, spend.

Heck even when me and my friends were practically kids we didn't believe ss would be solvent when we retired.

I figure I'll die in the traces like a good workhorse.

Down here we knew our country was being flushed, even as kids.

And I tip my hat to the hardworking and under appreciated fellows such as yourself, without whose labor society would be unable to function.

Just be sure that you do it right, so that the regulators won't be forced to take all of your marbles.

Too late, the marbles are all gone :(

I'm only left with change.

I'm not the blue collar guy I was, now I'm the guy in the a/c office getting flabby and making millions - according to my old buds :)

Haven't Republicans claimed SS wouldn't last for more than a few years since the day it was created, over seventy years ago?

It is a pyramid scheme enforced by the federal government.

Who stole all the money.

My hillbilly shop was full of heads, cranks, worn out starters, blocks .. you name it. Just shit I pulled and replaced for people and it added up to the point I had one half full so only one car would fit in there. I got pissed and decided it was time to haul it off and get my space back and you know what?

Get this crap. I drove 30 miles to the nearest scrapyard ( where the owner has known my family WELL since 1978 ), weighed in, then threw the cab high load of iron out of my truck ... just to get finger printed on my way out. I said '' FINGER PRINTED HELL !! .. I HAVEN'T COMMITTED ANY CRIME ''. Oh, but you done unloaded your truck and it's new policy anywhere in the state now that anyone getting rid of scrap must be finger printed before they leave. I said '' well I'll tell you what buddy,.. I'll just dig a deep assed hole on my place for my future shop cleaning.

I've bought low mileage motors and transmissions from this place for years and installed them for people when they can't afford to replace with brand new ones. Shit adds up and it's only common sense that I'm not a thief stealing scrap. Thieves haul anything metal they can get their hands on ... and all I've ever hauled off is blown engines & no good engine parts in which I have receipts for the replacement ones.
