Is Nancy Pelosi a Meddling Old Broad Poking a Hornets' Nest ...

... or is she a foreign relations genius?

Newt (remember this criminal?) Gangrene was the last Speaker to visit Taiwan. He said on Faux “News” recently, that the Chinese are bluffing. Hate to agree with the ass, but he’s right.

Neither.

Bullies only respect and fear an adversary that is willing to stand up, not back down. Any sign of a weakness is the wrong move.

China is flexing it's muscles and playing a long game. The USA needs to start playing a better game before it is to late.

I guess what I'm wondering is, is this a good time for her to be doing this? What's the upside?

The upside is telling China that in democracies, legislators can travel wherever they want without giving autocracies a veto over their freedom to travel. In the words of the G7 in response to China's threats, "there is no justification to use a visit as pretext for aggressive military activity in the Taiwan Strait. It is normal and routine for legislators from our countries to travel internationally."

It appears Nancy called their bluff:

In roughly 24 hours, Chinese officials and propagandists went from warning of a powder keg to pleading for patience as Beijing struggled to articulate a cohesive response to Nancy Pelosi’s landmark trip to Taiwan.

I'd love to see how the FAUX Entertainment division spins this. I'd love to if I gave a tinker's damn about what they have to say on the matter.

Madame Speaker has neutered bigger blowhards than Xi. The fucking PRC can go piss up a rope if they don't like it. :D

The PRC :D

The PRC can shut our economy down overnight, but then we can bankrupt PRC while they are thinking about it. Its a game of chicken Bob and they are playing with a weak hand and burning both ends of the candle.

I wonder if Biden's plans to homegrow silicon chips has the Red Chinese flummoxed. It sure pissed of Moscow Mitch McConnell. ;)

Nancy Pelosi has a long history of taking pokes at those in power who engage in bad behavier. This is a good thing.

Nancy Pelosi 1991 visit to Tiananmen Square

Here are a couple of excerpts from none other than Faux. I do checkup on the alternate facts site periodically when something controversial happens like Pelosi's visit to Taiwan.

Quote:

Pelosi is the highest-ranking United States official to visit Taiwan in a quarter of a century. "America made a promise to always stand with Taiwan," she said. "Today our delegation came to Taiwan to make in unequivocally clear we will not abandon our commitment to Taiwan."

Followed by a threat from the Ruskies.

On Thursday morning, deputy chairman of Russia’s security council Dmitry Medvedev even added a threatening note, saying "The United States will now have global consequences," he said. "No one can guarantee that the next flight of some restless old woman will reach the selected point."

Bob, because of the political see-saw, I am not certain if this plan will stick. But I do hope so. They (Huwei) have been accused of stealing the 4G & 5G technology by hacking Nortel, a company I used to work for in the early days of digital telephones.

Kudos to Fox. No other media seems to have that bit of gangster rhetoric from the Russian gangsters, but I was able to confirm it from a Russian source: https://srbin.info/en/svet/medvedev-...z-nisu-uspele/

Thanks DQ, quite interesting diatribe by Medvedev, which means Pelosi's visit to Taiwan has also irked the Russians, or are they rising in support of China hoping for their help in their invasion Ukraine?

Medvedev is irrelevant. He's just wants to look hawkish as that's what his position/ambition demands. It really isn't a mystery, however, why Russia supports China's position on Taiwan. Both China and Russia are frightened about the implications of having a free and relatively more successful democracy run by bordering ethnic cousins, both of whom are supported/inspired by us.
