The Midterms

Here we go again.

Oerets 02-28-2022 06:23 AM

Gonna be very interesting with this one across the nation. With all the new changes to voting laws.
Absentee/mail in voting for us, now to qualify, one must go into clerks office and fill out form. (Before could fill out form by mail.)
Stating they will not be able to vote in person the whole early voting season. Not just the unavailable election day of as before.

RickeyM 02-28-2022 06:59 AM

We're screwed.

Dondilion 02-28-2022 07:33 AM

Democrats will have a rough time.

Raging inflation has demoralized the consumer and the Repubs have sharpened their voter suppressing/gerrymandering tactics.

nailer 02-28-2022 09:36 AM

Based on the past, the red position will improve.

Dirty doings in Michigan.

"The state Bureau of Elections has recommended that five of the 10 Republican candidates hoping to oust Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer should be kicked off the ballot prior to the Aug. 2 primary due to tens of thousands of forged signatures.

In total, elections staff identified 36 individual petition circulators who submitted fraudulent petition sheets with invalid signatures in at least 10 petition drives — submitting at least 68,000 invalid signatures total. Those petition drives included those for governor, circuit judge and district judge.

Staff are working to refer incidents of apparent fraud to law enforcement for criminal investigation.

This comes after many Republicans — including many in the GOP gubernatorial field — have questioned whether former President Donald Trump lost the 2020 election, despite President Joe Biden winning by more than 154,000 votes in Michigan. Many have spread conspiracy theories about unproven election fraud." RS

The wonderful Rep. Katie Porter (D) is moving to our district after the great decennial redrawing of districts. WOOT! It'll be nice to have a Democrat repping for us again.

"Alaska is holding a 48-candidate special primary to fill the state's at-large House seat left vacant after Republican Rep. Don Young died. Young held the seat for 48 years until his death in March.

Three candidates, Republicans Sarah Palin and Nick Begich III and nonpartisan candidate Al Gross, will advance forward to the general election, Insider and Decision Desk HQ project."

Lovely to hear that Sarah 'the Quitter' Palin is returning to the limelight.

RickeyM 06-13-2022 07:44 AM

Compared to the recently spawned group of loonies she's a lightweight.

Chicks 06-13-2022 03:44 PM

JUNEAU (The Borowitz Report)—Making her boldest campaign promise to date, Sarah Palin announced that, if elected to the United States Congress, she would seek statehood for Alaska.

“As I travel up and down this great land of ours, a land of caribou, polar bears, and also, too, of people, I say to myself that it’s a disgrace that Alaska hasn’t been made a state,” she said. “Alaska deserves stateliness.”

“You look at Alaska on a map and it’s just gigantic, and then you compare it with so-called Hawaii, which is barely a bunch of tiny specks,” she said. “I don’t see why quote-unquote Hawaii gets to be a state just because Barack Hussein Obama says it is.”

She also shed light on her abrupt resignation halfway through her only term as the governor of Alaska, in 2009. “I woke up one morning and said to myself, ‘Sarah, it’s not fair that you’re working your fanny off as governor of a place that’s not even a state,’ ” she said. “I will make you this promise: if I’m halfway through my term as your congressperson and Alaska is still not a state, I will quit also.”

Beto goes there.

Speaking at meeting a heckler starts laughing when he's talking about the mass murder at Uvalde, O'Roarke calls him out as a MFer.

Good. More of this, please.

Too late. A member of the "squad" (not a fan) said "Lets impeach the mo****f****r" after the Dems regained control of the House in 2018. :)

That leaves opening to opposing Dem candidates. Things like "You had no intention of following the will of the people" or "You'll say anything to get elected" or "You'll follow tRump as long as you think it will get you elected". GOP hypocrisy, the gift that keeps on giving.

Another great Dem proposal that Repukes will absolutely hate. Voters in Red states will still, against their self interest, vote for the Repukes. Ignorant fools.

Caribou Barbie loses special election for Alaska House seat

https://www.cnn.com/2022/08/31/polit...ots/index.html

Quote:

Democrat Mary Peltola won the special election to fill Alaska's House seat for the remainder of 2022, according to unofficial results released by the Alaska Division of Elections, thwarting former Gov. Sarah Palin's bid at a political comeback -- at least for a few months.

With her victory, the former state lawmaker will flip the seat held for nearly half a century by the late GOP Rep. Don Young, and is set to become the first Alaska Native in Congress.
ROFLMAO! Too funny!

donquixote99 08-31-2022 08:58 PM

Palin lost in Alaska? McCarthy has it right--voters too are perceiving a GOP quality problem!

bobabode 09-01-2022 08:30 PM

Helluva speech from old Joe tonight. :D

Polls are pointing toward the Democrats holding both houses in congress in November. :)

Instead of a drawn out post I'll keep it short. MAGA, Biden won without you in 2020. If you're not willing to support our democracy (democratic republic) and follow our constitution then go pound sand.

Thanks Bob, my ears are still ringing from listening to that bozo cackling.
Or perhaps its the sound reflections from her paddle ear rings, all highs and no lows. :D

Chicks 09-02-2022 12:36 PM

Why Caribou Barbie’s loss is a warning for the GOP
A chunk of Alaska’s Republican voters, who strongly favored Trump in 2020, preferred a Democrat over the lightning-rod candidate.

https://www.politico.com/news/2022/0...laska-00054633

Quote:

Everyone who could read a poll or a room in Alaska knew Sarah Palin was unpopular in her home state. What was jarring to Republicans about her defeat in a U.S. House race there was that so many conservatives were unwilling to vote for her, anyway.

In an election that could spell disaster for pro-Donald Trump hard-liners in states across the midterm electoral map, only about half of voters who supported a more traditionalist Republican, Nick Begich III, as their first choice in Alaska’s new ranked-choice voting system marked Palin as their second pick.
So, not all of today's "conservatives" are as dumb as Whell, thankfully.

Good lord what a nut bag. At least she's not crying voter fraud from the hilltops but I think she's telling Alaskans they're too dumb to understand ranked-choice voting. Someone did say a vote for her was a rank choice tho'. Has Lord Felthersnatch of MAGA-Lardo commented on her loss yet?

The Republican party leaders have not disavowed any of this. It's a direct result of them radicalizing their base. As the article says roughly one third of the American electorate believe the election was stolen from tRump and Biden isn't the real president. That leaves two-thirds of the electorate that doesn't. The GOP just might end up getting people killed but I don't think they mind so long as they get what they want.

'Americans Are Casting Midterm Ballots at Record Rates, Which Means the Results Might Take Longer'

"In 2018, with Donald Trump in the White House and Democrats desperate to regain power in Congress, nearly half of eligible voters cast ballots, achieving the highest turnout rate for a midterm election in more than a century.

This year, the turnout could be even higher.

According to University of Florida professor Michael McDonald, who tracks the early vote for the United States Elections Project, at least 6 million Americans have already voted, a rate that surpasses the 2018 turnout at the same point in October. “If things remain as they are, we’re going to come down and say, ‘Yes, this is an exceptionally high turnout election,’” McDonald says."

Inflation it appears is a world wide issue.

C-19 has continued it's effects. I just don't see how a President could do much anyway, then add a congress and senate stagnation. Be different if we had a King....

Guess that is what the GQP is wanting.

It appears a large group believes it sucks! Especially when your working pay check to pay check. Most expect easy answers and solutions. Have a tough time understanding or taking the time to learning the root causes and fixes of inflation.
Glad to place the blame instead of getting answers.
