Betting markets swing in favor of Gov. Gavin Newsom

Betting markets swing in favor of Gov. Gavin Newsom as California recall effort enters home stretch

https://www.cnbc.com/2021/09/06/cali...in-newsom.html

Voted "NO!" on this BS the day the ballots arrived. Dems need to change this to make it MUCH harder to pull these stunts, which cost us $millions.

The American Tally-Ban may have to put their dreams of a West Coast stronghold on standby for now.

Will be called yet another case of election/voter fraud be a good guess.

Sure hope Newsom stays in office. This is crazy, he has been doing a great job herding cats....

donquixote99 09-06-2021 09:08 PM

He shot himself in the foot by keeping Democrats off the "who instead" ballot. Dems would I think be more likely to vote if they had someone to vote for, even if they intend to vote No one the recall.

But looks like he will probably limp to victory anyway.

In a decent country that isn't half full of assholes, we wouldn't be feeling a need for an alternative Democrat. Anybody who isn't a Republican ought to be plenty good enough. Anybody who isn't Republican is good enough.

donquixote99 09-08-2021 07:00 AM

The election, however, is being held in the country that actually exists. I would apply the word need here in a pragmatic, tactical sense. Ideologically you are quite correct.

donquixote99 09-08-2021 07:02 AM

An aside here. When I type messages on my phone, they often show up in rather small type when they post, at least for me. Do others see them that way, in small type?

IMO that would have been a bad decision.

Voting for a replacement candidate is only relevant when a majority of voters have voted YES to replace Newsom.

Just looked at my ballot and there are several Democrats on it. Weird.

I'm speaking purely from a get-out-the-vote perspective. I feel not having any alternative choice will sour some Democrats who would have voted no on the primary question.

OK, Newsom's effort was not perfectly successful. That's for the good I'd say.

NipperDog 09-09-2021 05:37 PM

Sent out my ballot by return mail the day after I received it. I don't think these idiots stand a chance, and certainly not with Larry Elder.

Haven't there been already a tales of voter irregularities, fraud being put forth?

In anticipation of a loss by the cult.....

Two no votes for the guv and wrote in his name just in case.

Personally California deserves to to have some Mickey Mouse clown ala Swartzenegger to lead.

Fucking $287million bucks up in smoke for a second shot by the sore loser caucus. smh...

Every democrat who threw their hat in the ring in this election is a scab imo.

RickeyM 09-10-2021 08:21 AM

Larry Elder afforded a warm welcome in Venice Beach. If you consider an egg upside the head warm that is
I guess some Democrats are more motivated than others :)

Chicks 09-10-2021 09:38 AM

Republicans are laying the groundwork to lie that the California recall was stolen

https://www.cnn.com/2021/09/10/polit...len/index.html

Polls show the Repubes are going to lose this, BIGLY, so of course, they're doing what they always do - lie.

Looks like the Orange Combover has been a big boost for President Newsom's campaign out here in California...

Oops, I meant Governor (grin)

Pio1980 09-14-2021 09:03 AM

Larry Elder is your political rabble rousing media clown playing the Jewish Nazi schtick to cash in. He could care less about the consequences as long as the checks don't bounce.

Chicks 09-14-2021 11:17 PM

A total blowout. What a waste of taxpayer money. The recall rules in this state need to change, to keep this nonsense from happening again and again.

Congrats, Newsom. Now get busy with the lockdown, and keep us locked down until this state is finally free of this damn virus! No Texans or anyone from any Red state should be allowed entry unless they can prove they've been fully vaccinated.

NipperDog 09-14-2021 11:42 PM

It was such an overwhelming victory for Newsom that Elder would look like a complete fool if he tried to cry voter fraud now.

Rajoo 09-15-2021 01:10 AM

Faux has trouble saying Newsom won.

"Voters have chosen not to recall California Gov. Gavin Newsom, and he will remain in office." From the article, right under the big election result map. There's also an accompanying table showing Newsom received 64% of the 'no' votes.

Hope he's not caught celebrating maskless. :)

A clear repudiation: Larry Elder's mammoth defeat may signal the death rattle of Trumpism

We don’t suffer fools here.

Don't expect that, the next stage is an open nationalist white power party movement riding on the coattails of neo-Nazi Trumpism.

Fret not, if Larry Elder doesn't step forward to assume "fool of the week" there are plenty others in the GOP who will :D

California Poll Worker Dressed Head-to-Toe in ‘Trump 2020’ Merch Has Been Dismissed
‘INAPPROPRIATE AND UNACCEPTABLE’

https://www.thedailybeast.com/califo...been-dismissed

Quote:

“The election worker was contacted and advised that the attire was inappropriate and unacceptable,” the county clerk’s office tweeted. “Based on his response and reports that other workers had previously counseled him on this, he was released and is no longer working at the vote center.” His exact role wasn’t specified. A bad day for the man presumably turned worse later that night, when it was reported that California’s Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom had walked to victory in the state’s recall election.
Sheesh. Dumber than the Insane Clown.

After Previously Alleging Election ‘Shenanigans,’ Larry Elder Actually Concedes: ‘Let’s Be Gracious In Defeat’

Which makes him, ever so slightly, a better man than Trump.

Dang. So there is a way to shut these guys up. Just get 2/3 of the vote.

Sheesh. Dumber than the Insane Clown.

Probably for causing a disruption. I.E. voters so doubled up in laughter so unable to cast their ballots.
A clear disruption of the democratic process.

I wonder if the early ejacu, er, speculation that the vote counting was corrupt days before the actual election had something to do with it?
