R.I.P. Rush

Didn't agree with hardly anything he ever said and I saw him as part of the far right evolution that began in entertainment... Jerry Springer and somehow the format found it's way into politics thanks to Newt, Rush, and a whole bunch of other folks blurring reality show with reality (Alex Jones) culminating in the Donald. Dangerous format to use considering our future is at stake.

My silence to this passing is do to with the inability of, or having nothing good to say about him!

I've said my piece.

I didn't agree with anything that he stood for but I think that it's bad karma to speak ill of the dead.

RIP Mr. Limbaugh.

bobabode 02-17-2021 05:22 PM

Condolences to the family. The world will be a better place without the vile hate he championed and espoused. He harangued a twelve year old girl by calling her a "dog". There's no coming back from that, imo.

Excrement In Fraudcasting.
Power minus accountability, one less demagogue.

At some point in the early-mid 1990s, about the time of the Clinton era militia movement, I spent a week listening to el Rushbo.

I wish ill health or death on no one but I will not miss him.

Christopher Hitchens' tribute to Jerry Falwell applies equally well to Rush Limbaugh:

"If you gave him an enema he could be buried in a matchbox."

What a horrible thing to say. It's perfect! :D

I don't think just one would be enough to do the job!
Might take the whole box!

OPPS! I said something.....

About forty years too late. I wonder if Satan will tolerate him incessantly bitching about "welfare queens"?

Good-Bye gas bag.

Hypocracy is still alive and thriiving.

Radio personality fired for treating Limbaugh as he treated others, but by speaking truth to demagoguery.

But, he was right. The world IS a better place without Limbaugh. And when the reaper comes for that other fat, golf course dwelling pig down in Florida, it'll be better yet.

I know some of you don't like to hear these things but, face it. The world is definitely better without certain individuals. Limbaugh didn't just have cancer, he WAS a cancer.

Agree.

What happened to norms?

Ask Rush, ask Newt, ask Mitch, ask Don the con.
Re Rush, the end of the "fairness doctrine" opened the door on unaccountable demagoguery in broadcasting like this. No more "norms", minus the two-way street.

Dondilion 03-13-2021 07:15 PM

Contributor DonQ is a man of norms.

Ooooo, a net nanny. Why is it you conservatives are always trying to cancel conversations?

Norms are not laws. They are subject to exceptions. Understand, I am agreeing with feeling that a death is advantageous to society, and thus not in all respects a sad occasion. I'm not suggesting one should otherwise be gratified by anyone's death, let alone take satisfaction in the suffering occasioned by their final illness.

But if someone did express feelings along such lines, I could probably find a way to forgive them, in this case....

Dondilion 03-13-2021 09:57 PM

My impulse is not to cancel. It is more to ease back.

When did the deceased ever ease back? He was a horrible and deeply bitter individual who relished torturing the Sandy Hook families and went after the Clinton's twelve year old daughter by calling her a dog. Your moral center seems way out of wack, Dondilion.

Dondilion 03-13-2021 10:36 PM

You think I am about the deceased? My little signal was to the living, especially DonQ for whom I have a tremendous amount of respect.

I was banned from Facebook for a month for calling a Trumpanzee a "....typical American moron...". He complained that this was "hate speech". Here we go again, they accuse others of being "Snowflakes" when they claim offense, then they claim offense. But, it's "different" when they do it because they're special.

Mine is to attack a dick like Limbaugh. Ease back my ass, that's how he managed to spread his disease; Too many people being nice and just ignoring him.

Nobdy had to "cancel" Limbaugh, God did it for us. Praise be!

The basic 'be nice and have respect for the travails and mortality of your fellow humans' norm is, I think, what you are talking about. Just as the libel laws are relaxed for 'public figures,' I think this norm must be relaxed, for cause, in some cases of public assholes. I would try to draw the line at hate, the emotional lust to inflict physical harm. That should always be minimized, not indulged.

BTW, thanks for the kind words. I in turn respect you as a person of knowledge and thought. With a blind spot or two, of course, but all are prone to those....
