Covid Vaccination?

Got a phone call from Optum at 3:30 yesterday to see if I was available to get the jab that afternoon. Hell, yes! Went over to their facility and got the 'jab' of Pfizer juice at 4:30. WOW!

Nothing weird to report, just a sore shoulder. Pat got the Moderna version at Disneyland the other day.

donquixote99 02-06-2021 07:27 PM

Nice. I was supposed to call starting today to maybe get happy. Was on hold for two hours, then disconnected! Truth!

Ugh. Hang in there my friend.

Oerets 02-07-2021 06:03 AM

I'm set up for the 16th, wife who was five minutes behind me in registering is on the 20th.

Here we have to go through the health department, gave them my contact info back a month or more. Checked periodically during the intervening weeks. Then a email informing me to register. Had to wait for the 65 and over to kick in.

barbara 02-07-2021 11:40 AM

I'm supposed to get my second shot on March 3. I'll be so glad to have both shots done.

I'm not sure when my boys and daughter in law will get theirs. They are in their forties so it might be a while.

Dondilion 02-07-2021 12:46 PM

For what length of time is the vaccine effective?

Unknown is what I have read and heard.
We are just at a year into this one.

Might be a six month to year booster needed.

bobabode 02-26-2021 06:08 PM

Off to get the booster shot. Hang in there everybody, J&J vax is almost here and the others are ramping up production. Be safe, friends.

Ohio? My siblings have been having a terrible time getting theirs.

BlueStreak 02-26-2021 06:41 PM

I got the first Moderna shot, then five days later got sick and tested positive for Covid-19.

Don't get too happy until you've had that second shot.

All depends on what outfit you hook up with. My "mother in law" in nice suburb had no trouble getting scheduled at a place half a mile from her home. At age 88 she was a priority of course. I'm getting mine at big hospital in inner city. Cattle call, took 45 minutes to get there, then spent another hour standing in three lines. But I got shot number 1, and number 2 is scheduled.

My wife and I got our second shot of Pfizer this Monday at Kaiser in Walnut Creek, CA. From what I found out, Kaiser has been administering both Pfizer and Moderna depending on what they have/get that particular day. For our second shot, they had two separate lines, one for each vaccine. I had minimal symptoms after the second and my wife, none at all.

My youngest sister got hers from the VA hospital in Cleveland. She's 66. My #2 Brother got his from a clinic in Kent. He's 75. Middle Sister got hers at a hospital in Youngstown. She's 67. Not sure about the rest of them. (I am the youngest of seven siblings at 57.) So, it is slowly coming together in Ohio.

I'm currently listed in the phase 2 category in MD. So far they're up to the ones in phase 1C. With the J&J vaccine approved and more doses getting shipped hopefully things will speed right along. A church near me is giving shots this Saturday. I've heard of people waiting at vaccination sites toward the end of the day and getting "left over" shots they don't want to go to waste.

I'm in the 1C category in MD and luckily found a shot at a local Walgreen's last week. As soon as I succeeded in getting an appointment, I tried the same for my wife. No luck. Still far too little supply in MD.

Chicks 03-02-2021 04:22 PM

Just got first at Kaiser clinic. Appt, so no waiting. Got jabbed with the Moderna.

bobabode 03-02-2021 04:46 PM

Looks like everybody who wants a jab will have it by the end of May per the POTUS. Biden has Merck manufacturing the J&J one shot vax. Sure hope we can get this Covid relief bill done. That will help to get the vaccine into arms.

Actually Uncle Joe said "every adult" that wants one.

barbara 03-03-2021 09:42 AM

I'll be getting my second shot this morning. Yippee!

Great news.

Pio1980 03-03-2021 03:47 PM

Friday for me.

barbara 03-05-2021 12:32 PM

That second shot (moderma) was a doozie. Spent all day in bed yesterday with chills, fever, ached all over. Not sure if everyone has that sort of reaction. Today I feel fine. The day of being sick is worth being vaccinated.

Someone said they heard.....you know not even second hand info.

That the one who has a bad reaction to the vaccine, would of been one who would of been very ill from the virus.

Who knows.

Glad you are doing better now.

One day closer to FREEDOM!

Pio1980 03-05-2021 02:44 PM

Just got the second Pfizer.

barbara 03-05-2021 06:01 PM

That's interesting, Oerets. I wonder if it is true.
I'm glad I got the vaccine instead of the virus!

That must have been frightening. I'm glad you're feeling better.

donquixote99 03-05-2021 09:01 PM

I think big flu-type reaction to second shot just shows you have a strong immune system. First shot loaded it up to react, then with the second shot, react it did!

Chicks 03-30-2021 05:54 PM

Second shot just now. Not looking forward to tonight!

Chicks 04-01-2021 02:49 PM

Well, yesterday wasn't much fun. Massive headache, tired as hell, slept a lot. 100% better today. Will wait 15 days for the second dose to become fully effective, then we will start socializing again. Yay!

My wife, who's not yet 60, is scheduled for the J&J shot tomorrow. One and done!

RickeyM 04-13-2021 12:41 AM

Got a scheduled appointment to get the shot Wednesday A.M. I don't know which one they're giving yet.

donquixote99 04-13-2021 01:28 AM

All shots are tons better than no shot.

RickeyM 04-14-2021 01:40 PM

Got jab #1 of the Pfizer this morning. Feeling just a little tired, just a little off-beam as it were. So far that's all. Shot #2 due in three weeks.

Mark B 04-14-2021 11:55 PM

Got my second shot (Moderna). All good.

barbara 04-15-2021 10:29 AM

Is anyone hesitant to get the J&J vaccine since the news came out about blood clots in a few people who got it?

donquixote99 04-15-2021 03:41 PM

Blood clot frequency seems very very low. Count-on-fingers out of millions low. Not a worry I wouldn't say.

Very few things in life are risk free. This seems low compared to the getting of C-19.

Drinking a diet soft drink for instance, something most do without thinking.....

Oerets 08-17-2021 06:48 PM

Just got the third jab in the ol arm of the good stuff.

Moderna booster at a Krogers.

Check your local pharmacy for the requirements needed.

In and out in under a half hour.

barbara 08-18-2021 07:13 AM

Oerets, Who is eligible for a third shot?

Oerets 08-18-2021 07:34 AM

Right now if you have a autoimmune disease or a transplant patient.

I have and currently under treated for a autoimmune disease.

The pharmacy said they expect it to be available for all as early as next month.

barbara 08-19-2021 08:24 AM

Thanks, Oerets. I was listening to the news yesterday after I posted and heard a lot of information. Looks like I can get my third shot in late October or early November.
