This COMPETENT Administration's Response to COVID-19

Already, a comprehensive plan in place. Completely the opposite of the last utterly INCOMPETENT administration.

Much will be blocked/delayed by the disgusting Repubes in the Congress, but the most horrific of them are being referred for ethics violations, and will be dealt with.

In arguing for a new coronavirus aid package, Biden says "well over 600,000" people will die of the coronavirus in the U.S.

About 412,000 have died so far.

"We're in a national emergency. We need to act like we're in a national emergency."

Federal government opening first mass Covid vaccination sites in California
The effort is a change in course from the Trump administration, which left vaccine administration largely to the states.

Drove my better half up to the Tragic Kingdom in Anaheim for a 'jab' yesterday.
It went much faster than we expected. Hopefully I'll get mine soon but this takes a lot of worry out of our lives.

Pro tip - take a fold up camping stool or a walker w/ a seat. The lines reminded me going to the Antiques Roadshow, endless.

Oerets 02-03-2021 04:23 PM

We got appointments a couple of days ago. Just that morning checked and I was 8500 out....
Then received a email around 1500.
Have a appointment for the 16th wife the 20th. She was five minutes behind me in setting one up.

You mean that herd immunity thing wasn't a comprehensive plan

Biden administration is looking into providing masks directly to everyone, perhaps a bit too ambitious but a good concept in principle. This is what Taiwan did at the Covidd-19 outbreak, their citizens could pick up masks for free at any drug store by showing their ID card I believe.

I got my shot yesterday. No waiting and I was in and out in less than an hour. From what I've heard, others had long wait times .... I feel so lucky.

Ohio has mailed a package of 5 basic disposable masks to all seniors.

^^ From today:

Quote:

(CNN)The Biden administration is hoping to resurrect a proposal from the Trump administration to mail face masks to every American in an attempt to stop the spread of Covid-19, White House chief of staff Ron Klain said Thursday.
"This was an idea that really came up last year in the Trump administration -- the public health agencies recommended it, President Trump vetoed it for some reason," Klain told NBC's Lester Holt. "We want to get this back on track. I hope in the next few days, or next week, we may be able to announce some progress on this."
The US Postal Service had planned to distribute 650 million face coverings for the Trump administration last April, according to internal documents reviewed by CNN in September. A senior administration official told The Washington Post at the time that the plan was scrapped by the White House as some advisers were worried that it could create "concern or panic."
Of course, causing panic is far worse than death is Trumpian logic.

"The United States could see “open season” for COVID-19 vaccine doses by April, Dr. Anthony Fauci said Thursday, an optimistic forecast that comes as states continue to clamor for additional supplies to ramp up their rollouts.

Though the nation will still be far from administering doses to all those who need it by then, Fauci said he believes conditions will improve to the point that health officials can begin inoculating the wider population.

“I would imagine, by the time we get to April, that will be what I would call, for better wording, ‘open season’ — namely, virtually everybody and anybody in any category could start to get vaccinated,” the U.S. government’s top infectious diseases expert said during an appearance on NBC’s “Today” show.

“From then on, it would likely take several more months just logistically to get vaccine into people’s arms, so that, hopefully, as we get into the middle and end of the summer, we could have accomplished the goal of what we’re talking about: namely, the overwhelming majority of people in this country having gotten vaccinated.”" LA Times

That's another way of saying supply will catch up with demand. After that, instead of people chasing the vaccine, the health officials will be chasing more people willing to take it.

Excuse me, but it was Biden's former boss OBAMA who paid for the Wuhan lab that produced this virus.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...urce-bats.html

REVEALED: U.S. government gave $3.7million grant to Wuhan lab at center of coronavirus leak scrutiny that was performing experiments on bats from the caves where the disease is believed to have originated

The US National Institutes of Health, a government agency, awarded a $3.7million research grant to the Wuhan Institute of Virology
The lab is the center of several conspiracy theories that suggest it is the original source of the coronavirus outbreak
The institute experimented on bats from the source of the coronavirus
They were captured more than 1,000 miles away in Yunnan
Sequencing of the Covid-19 genome has traced it to bats to Yunnan's caves
The U.S. government funded research on coronavirus transmission in the lab over the past decade

What did PRESIDENT TRUMP DO? Pretty much cut most of the governmental red tape on vaccine research so that the CURE would be ready TODAY, as Democrat alleged "experts" suggested that the vaccine was YEARS away.

What did Jim Crow Joe do? Signed an EXECUTIVE ORDER allowing a few THOUSAND illegal aliens inside the country with NO covid screening an NO masks.

Be careful how you praise this illegitimate idiot of a president. He has already tanked the economy and has proven to be WORSE than what President Trump warned us about.

There IS something to be said about market economics. (Something Democrats have fought tooth and nail against since their beginning.)

While there are people acting terrified that they won't get their entitled government shot in time, I told my doctor I would only take it from her and in her clinical setting. I wasn't going to line up behind a bunch of scared sheeite less liberals in front of a supermarket, demanding a shot.

America has survived the Obama virus for nine months. We have a bigger threat from illegal aliens coming across the border (thanks to Jim Crow Joe) without Covid screenings and without masks.

(Then again, I'm sure the human traffickers in those crowds who have already assigned prostitution roles for the children, are looking after their health.)

President Biden pledged 100 million covid vaccination shots in his first 100 days. He met that goal on Day 58, and increased the pledge to 200 million shots in 100 days. He’ll meet that goal on his 92nd day. “This is an American achievement,” he says.

The elite in India have consumed copious amounts of Modi branded Kool-Aid and therein lies the problem. It is true that Biden will be removing restrictions on vaccine production materials and it is hoped that the home grown Covid-19 vaccine Covaxxin can be effective in curbing this second wave.

Modi is a problem. On a side note my parents helped build a hospital in Mumbai back in the early '60s as part of a Methodist church group. Mom is still enthralled by the Taj. (grin)

If "Agent Orange" had managed to stay in power vaccine distribution would be down to a sort of Hunger Games between the states. Except the states run by Repubs because they would still be pursuing herd immunity. Herd immunity sans vaccinations AKA survival of the fittest.

Herd immunity isn't even possible without vaccination. As I understand it, you have to vaccinate as many people as possible to isolate the virus in ever smaller pockets until it can no longer spread. That's herd immunity. Done the Trumpist way, we would literally have had to wait for the virus to run it's course......... And what, exactly, would THAT entail? The 1918 epidemic infected an estimated five hundred million people worldwide. Trump wasn't just a terrible president, he was a friggin' monster.

RickeyM 04-28-2021 07:48 AM

The tRumpian way to herd immunity. First you convince the populace that the pandemic isn't real. Then "oh it's real it just isn't as bad as the doctors and scientists say". IE, It's only fifteen cases and soon to be zero. Then it's things like the death toll is exaggerated or it's going to go away by itself. When a vaccine comes you have agents stoking resistance to vaccines and at the same time promoting resistance to measures to limit or slow down the spread of the virus. Thankfully Agent 45 couldn't cheat enough or overthrow the process and Biden became president. Unfortunately for the people who live there, there are still places where the herd immunity experiment isn't completely squashed.

Rajoo 04-28-2021 09:46 AM

Trumpian concept of Herd Immunity is very simply survival of the fittest. The excuse I often heard from Trumpers was "so what, no one is dying from it", meaning those who die are from other underlying causes and Covid-19 was perhaps a minor contributing factor. Remember cries of faked death certificates from Trump claiming using Covid-19 as the cause?

Oerets 04-28-2021 11:33 AM

The "Herd Immunity" is being test now in India.....

Or are they faking it to make Trump look bad too?

Rajoo 04-28-2021 12:43 PM

So called herd immunity in India is a myth. Yes, the death rates are lower than what we experience(d) here in the US, but the fear (internationally) now is that this is a new variant that has spiked the number of cases up exponentially. Also I fear that the percentage of people hoping/willing to get vaccinated is much less than 50%, perhaps even less in the south where the Covid-19 impact has been less.

As Vaccine Demand Slows, Political Differences Go on Display in California Counties

https://khn.org/news/article/as-vacc...rnia-counties/

Quote:

“As a strongly blue state, one would expect that California is less likely than red states to hit a relatively low ceiling of vaccination, assuming that the access is good and the messaging is strong,” said Dr. Robert Wachter, chair of the department of medicine at the University of California-San Francisco School of Medicine.

As of Wednesday, 77% of seniors in California, and 68% of those ages 50 to 64, had received at least one dose of covid vaccine, according to a KHN analysis. These large percentages reflect the early vaccine eligibility of these age groups and are a hopeful sign considering how difficult it was to get a shot in the beginning of the year, said Rebecca Fielding-Miller, an assistant professor at the University of California-San Diego specializing in infectious diseases and public health.

“I’m very hopeful that addressing access would pick up at least another 10-15% before we need to really start addressing myths and hesitancy issues,” she said.
