Steve Bannon Arrested by Postal Service Agents

Irony isn't dead afterall. Bannon is charged with fraud over the private border wall that was crowdfunded.

"Federal prosecutors in New York unsealed criminal charges Thursday against Stephen K. Bannon, President Trump’s former chief strategist, and three other men they alleged defrauded donors to a massive crowdfunding campaign that claimed to be raising money for construction of a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.

In a news release, prosecutors said Bannon and another organizer, Air Force veteran Brian Kolfage, lied when they claimed they would not take any compensation as part of the campaign, called “We Build the Wall.” Bannon, prosecutors alleged, received more than $1 million through a nonprofit entity he controlled, sending hundreds of thousands of dollars to Kolfage while keeping a “substantial portion” for himself.

The campaign, publicly supported by several of the president’s allies, raised more than $25 million through hundreds of thousands of donors, the news release states." WP

The Stunning Predictability of Steve Bannon’s “We Build the Wall” Scam

https://www.newyorker.com/news/news-...-the-wall-scam

Quote:

According to the government, the group raised more than twenty-five million dollars, and promised “not to take a penny in salary or compensation.” Then they pocketed a bunch of the money. Bannon allegedly routed more than a million dollars through a nonprofit he controls. One of his co-defendants, Brian Kolfage, allegedly used his share of the money to buy, among other things, a boat called Warfighter. According to the Times’ Evan Hill, Kolfage sailed Warfighter in a pro-Trump boat parade held in Destin, Florida, on July 4th. Happy birthday, America. Is there a word in German for something that is at once extraordinary and shocking and yet at the same time totally predictable and stupid?

The indictment raises questions about other Trump allies as well. We Build the Wall’s board members included Kris Kobach, the former Kansas secretary of state; Erik Prince, the Blackwater founder and a brother of Education Secretary Betsy DeVos; David A. Clarke, Jr., the former sheriff of Milwaukee County, Wisconsin; and Curt Schilling, the former major-league-baseball pitcher. The indictment came out of the office of the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York. In June, Trump and his Attorney General, Bill Barr, forced Geoffrey Berman out of his job as the U.S. Attorney in that office, for reasons that remain unclear, and despite Berman’s protests. It now needs to be asked whether this case against a close Trump associate played a role in Berman’s ouster.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Roos told the judge just now that the government has agreed with Bannon’s defense attorneys on a $5 million bond to secure the former Trump campaign chairman’s release, with Bannon’s travel restricted to the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, and to the D.C. area and Connecticut for work.

During his release, Bannon won’t be able to travel abroad, or use “private air travel, or private yachts or boats without the express permission of the court.”

The 'We Build The Wall' Huckster Is Accused of Duping Donors. Turns Out He Planned To Sell Their Data Too.
AND AFTER ALL, YOU’RE MY WONDER WALL
In an email seen by The Daily Beast, Brian Kolfage shared his plans to monetize his huge list of donors at a new GOP fundraising firm.

https://www.thedailybeast.com/the-we...their-data-too

Quote:

In the email to the Republican consultant, who showed the message to The Daily Beast on the condition of anonymity due to concerns about Kolfage’s legal situation, Kolfage bragged that the voter contact list in his possession was likely the third biggest in Republican politics, surpassed only by those controlled by Trump himself and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX). He said it contained names, email addresses, phone numbers, and other data points about donors to his nonprofit who Republican candidates could hit up for cash.

Kolfage proposed a revenue-sharing agreement, whereby he would keep 50 percent of all the funds raised by the campaigns and groups that used his list.

Kolfage’s pitch to the Republican consultant, who does digital fundraising for Republican candidates, suggests that Kolfage was seeking to rent the list to other vendors that work with political campaigns, rather than to the campaigns directly.
Anyone and everyone involved with Orange Shitstain is a grifter.

Federal agents had arrested Bannon on a large yacht off the coast of Connecticut. I guess he wasn't far enough out (international waters). Not that that's where he was headed, IJS

Faux host blames ‘deep state’ for Bannon arrest – Bannon says that's for 'nut cases'
Lou Dobbs claims ‘the deep state launched agents’ to arrest Trump’s ex-adviser, who pleaded not guilty to fraud charge

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/...spiracy-theory

Quote:

Faux Business host Lou Dobbs has blamed the “deep state” conspiracy theory for the arrest of Steve Bannon, the former Trump campaign manager who on Thursday pleaded not guilty to a charge of skimming donations from a fundraising campaign for a border wall with Mexico.

Bannon himself is a key propagator of the theory that unknown government operatives are working against the Trump administration – but has also said the idea is “for nut cases” and should not be taken seriously.
Hey, Waggs - didn't you post some nutty Lou Doggs propaganda recently? He's decidedly a nut case, right up your alley.

Orange Shitstain is pictured meeting We Build The Wall chief last summer as the president* insists he knew nothing about the crowdfunding 'scam'

We Build The Wall CFO Amanda Shea posted a photo with Trump on Instagram in the Hamptons in August 2019

In the caption Shea gushed about how much interest the president had shown in her group's efforts to use crowd funding to build barriers at the Mexico border

The photo resurfaced after WBTW leader Brian Kolfage and former top Trump aide Steve Bannon were arrested over the campaign prosecutors say was a scam

Shea's husband Timothy Shea was also arrested in connection with the scheme

Prosecutors say Timothy Shea helped orchestrate the fraud by setting up shell corporations to funnel $350,000 in donations to Kolfage

Trump has insisted that he never knew anything about the project - despite its ties to members of his inner circle

Sure, Donny!

Hey, Trumpkins, see any irony here?

https://www.washingtonpost.com/natio...ed4_story.html

Quote:

White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany said Trump had “no involvement in this project” and pointed to a tweet he issued last month in response to a ProPublica report about a privately funded section of wall, saying: “I disagreed with doing this very small (tiny) section of wall, in a tricky area, by a private group which raised money by ads. It was only done to make me look bad, and perhaps it now doesn’t even work.”

“President* Trump has always felt the Wall must be a government project and that it is far too big and complex to be handled privately,” McEnany said in a statement.
Far too big and complex to be handled privately. Huh. You Trumpkins applaud the Orange Shitstain for dismantling government and handing its services over to private industry...

Who is Guo Wengui, the Chinese billionaire who owns the boat Steve Bannon was arrested on?
Multiple people familiar with the matter told NBC News there is a separate federal inquiry involving a company linked to both men, GTV Media Group.

Multiple people familiar with the matter tell NBC News there is a separate federal inquiry involving a company linked to both men, GTV Media Group. As The Wall Street Journal first reported Wednesday, the FBI, the New York state attorney general and the Securities and Exchange Commission are examining whether securities laws were violated during a $300 million private offering by the company this spring, the sources say. In a memo to potential investors, according to The Journal, the company identified Bannon as one of several prominent directors.
Just grifters and con men, doing their thing...

BTW, Trumpkins - since Donny has always told you that "Mexico will pay for The Wall", why would you give money to a fake private foundation to fund The Wall in the first place? I thought you fervently believed everything the Orange Shitstain says...

Comey: Bannon in 'a world of trouble'

https://thehill.com/homenews/sunday-...rld-of-trouble

Quote:

"It’s another reminder of the kind of people this president surrounds himself with. At this point they could almost start their own crime family," said Comey, who is also a former U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, where Bannon was indicted. "It’s a very serious case. The Southern District of New York has laid it out in a very detailed indictment called a speaking indictment, and he’s in a world of trouble."

Bannon was indicted along with three others on charges of allegedly defrauding donors to the “We Build The Wall” fundraising campaign, which solicited money for the purpose of privately constructing a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

"It’s a very serious fraud case with a huge amount of money stolen from innocent victims," Comey added on CBS's "Face the Nation." "That'll drive up potential punishments."

"You know he’s in trouble because the indictment lays it out in such detail, including excerpts from texts. If you’re Steve Bannon [or] you’re his lawyers, you’re reading this saying, 'I’m going down here.'" Comey said. "I don’t know what the next steps are for him and his co-defendants, but that’s what I meant by 'world of trouble.'"
Don't worry Stevie - Billy Barr will put his bloated thumb on the scales of justice, just as he's done for other Trumpkin criminals...
