Conservative Media Is Hazardous To Your Health

'New research explores how conservative media misinformation may have intensified the severity of the pandemic' WP

"The three studies paint a picture of a media ecosystem that entertains conspiracy theories and discourages audiences from taking steps to protect themselves and others"

"Coronavirus infections have surged in a number of states, setting the United States on a markedly different pandemic trajectory than other wealthy nations.

There are many reasons our response to the pandemic tied to nearly 120,000 U.S. deaths has faltered, experts say, including the lack of a cohesive federal policy, missteps on testing and tracing, and a national culture emphasizing individualism.

In recent weeks, three studies have focused on conservative media’s role in fostering confusion about the seriousness of the coronavirus. Taken together, they paint a picture of a media ecosystem that amplifies misinformation, entertains conspiracy theories and discourages audiences from taking concrete steps to protect themselves and others." WP

Who knew that listening to Sean Hannity, Rush Limburger, Laura Ingraham, et al can be hazardous to your health and to everyone around you? All to praise and bolster the fragile ego of the Orange Menace and his cabal.

I'll wait to see the Washington Times take on it. :D

Fact is that I see both as biased. The washington post story is, to me, like a Fox broadcast slamming CNN. There is good reporting and crap reporting from all sources, but the ones I respect the most are not even among the ones mentioned. That being said, I think Laura Ingraham offers vastly superior analysis compared to Cuomo or Lemmon. And I watch them all. They are not even in the same league. And the future proves the veracity of Laura's analysis time and time again.

Of course, opinions vary. Bottom line is that I basically see the article as projection.

That said, I know a guy that follows Q and that stuff gets weird.

bobabode 06-25-2020 12:50 PM

Of course you think that Nazi Ingraham is the bee's knees.

I don't have the heart to tell them Trump's a traitor to the USA.

I think she is one of the best and maybe the best. But I'm not aware of her nazi credentials. That could change my position.;)

I'm not seeing any evidence of that, but I do understand that we may be handing down some indictments when Barr and Durham finish up.

John Bolton is cool, except he likes the fact his presidential vote won't make a difference.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/bolton-im...235443503.html

How weird.

Pio1980 06-25-2020 02:37 PM

Bolton got rightly "owned" by Jon Stewart for being so "naive " about Donny for someone who prides himself on being well-informed.

Netflix has a great documentary on Trump going right now. I see it this way: If you like trump, you'll love this documentary, and if you hate trump, you will love this documentary.

That is, the very things he has done that look terrible to people that hate him, those that love him say, "Yeah, that's why we elected him as president. That's what kind of person you need there!" So both sides see the same info and like it. :)

Etc.

Pio1980 06-25-2020 03:19 PM

Given Trumps grifter business model pattern, I fully expect him to leave town with whatever he can grab and leave the investors holding the bag.
Always the con-man huckster, to expect anything else is foolish.

I saw candidate Trump as one of those fantasy game characters who's special power is to appear as whatever he wants you to believe he is to those he wishes to draw in.
I never saw him as anything other than an arrogant empty untrustworthy toxic bullshitting con man.
Why is that?

He'll hang out in Moscow while his tower gets built.

How weird.

John doesn't want Biden nor Trump to be president next year.

He states he lives in Maryland, where all the electoral votes are going to go Biden, even though he wants a Conservative Republican other than trump.

But he's happy with the representative electoral college. States he may write in his Conservative Republican choice.

He says 'fortunately we have the electoral college system' and he's not being sarcastic.

Somebody explain that to me.

The system seems completely stupid to me, because Trump is going to pull Kansas no matter what.

John Bolton started his career working for Spirochete Agnew during the Nixon years. He's an accomplished liar who suckled at the government teat his whole life and he learned his craft from one of the scummiest liars in Washington. I wouldn't believe him if he said the sky was blue without checking it myself.

We had a guy like Spiro living with us in the swamp for a spell. He looked just like a Prussian hyena.

Unless something strange, often illegal, and totally unprecedented happens, all or nearly all the electors of the electoral college will vote for the certified election winners of their state.* I have no idea what Bolton is talking about either.

*in a few cases, by congressional district, not by state

There's the answer I was looking for. Don't have the time to watch Laura Ingram but I was sure she didn't look like that.

So sue me, it's a fuzzy 50 year old memory.

And I do indeed stand corrected.

Conservative media is hazardous to your health in the same way the red pill is. The truth will set you free, but first it will make you sick.

donquixote99 07-09-2020 01:10 PM

The following is just a copied FB comment, but hard to beat as a concise description of how the conservative media ecosystem is functioning.

Quote:

Cynthia Wornom Tillson IMHO, Faux Fox "opinion-gators" are hysterically leading an emotional cult, promoting "shared superior beliefs" that keep followers feeling high, connected, and safe! Their daily doses of superiority rants, & gut-wrenching reality denials, act like a drug, there's no difference in effect. Followers can't question anything, it's all or nothing! That's cult power: in or out, live or die, all or nothing.

Opinions vary. That was a great ad-hominem rant, though.

And regarding CNN and MSNBC: Ditto. :D
