An act of desperation. A friend who follows this issue told me this bill had little to no chance.

Just for you, overheard on a ski lift in Taos, NM. "If God wanted Texans to ski, he'd have made bullshit white.";)

Made me laugh out loud and I'm still smiling.

The BS is why so many Texans wear boots. Mine are custom. Look a lot like leather hip waders.

This loony has not only pulled off the impossible by singlehandedly killing his cause of openly arming all and sundry in Texas (including homicidal nutjobs), he has provided a national precedent by example why doing so is a horrible notion.
It's all theoretical fun and games plotting armed insurrection against authority until it turns into an inward circular firing free-for-all.

He's but a single drop in the crazed gun nut ocean. The open carry cause isn't dead, but it's always been a lost one. However if this ocean spreads so wide and deep that Congress in its wisdom passes open carry legislation they will also pass legislation requiring everyone to open carry for better health and economic stimulation.

Such a great, socially responsible company. I'm really going to miss the annual trip to DreamForce now that I'm retired.

I have to wonder how many he did before a staff member didn't say "it still looks like a big penis, try again".

Senator: 'The NRA lied about the December 2015 Moscow trip'

https://finance.yahoo.com/news/nra-r...163314111.html

Quote:

“The NRA lied about the December 2015 Moscow trip not being an official trip,” Wyden tweeted. “NRA leaders were told the trip was needed to prove Torshin’s American connections to the Kremlin, and that building relationships with Russians was ‘NRA business.’”

“While in Moscow, the NRA delegation met with a host of senior level Kremlin officials, including some of Putin’s closest advisors (at least two of whom had been sanctioned by the U.S. government), and multiple Russian oligarchs close to Putin,” Wyden said. “The now-convicted Russian agent Maria Butina made clear to the NRA she wanted to bring the ‘head of the most powerful political organization in America’ to Russia.”

And, the committee found in an email, Brownell was offered a meeting with none other than Vladimir Putin.

“After returning from Moscow, the NRA gave the Russians free rein over the guest list for its 2016 Annual Meeting,” Wyden said. “It also provided access to other political organizations in 2015 and 2016 like the National Prayer Breakfast and the secretive right-wing Council for National Policy.”

According to the New York Times, the NRA stated that it didn’t agree to pay for all of the trip’s expenses “but emails show that there was confusion long afterward about who was supposed to pay for what.” As a result, however, the New York Attorney General Letitia James is leading an investigation into whether or not the NRA violated its tax-exempt status because of how it potentially used donor funds.

“NRA officers’ apparent use of the NRA for personal gain fits a larger pattern of reported self-dealing and raises serious questions about whether the NRA broke U.S. tax laws,” Wyden said.
