Anthony Bourdain, RIP

Anthony Bourdain, the chef who became a world-traveling storyteller, has died at age 61, according to CNN.

Bourdain died in France, where he was working on an episode of his CNN show, “Parts Unknown.”

In a statement, CNN said:

“It is with extraordinary sadness we can confirm the death of our friend and colleague, Anthony Bourdain. His love of great adventure, new friends, fine food and drink and the remarkable stories of the world made him a unique storyteller. His talents never ceased to amaze us and we will miss him very much. Our thoughts and prayers are with his daughter and family at this incredibly difficult time.”

According to the network, the cause of death was suicide.

Big bummer. I'm a huge fan of his work and his approach to it. RIP, sir.

I wonder if the suicide was the result of a diagnosis.

Oerets 06-08-2018 07:32 AM

WOW!

Sad news indeed.

RIP

He left a young daughter behind.

Pretty shitty thing to do.

Suggest you educate yourself about depression.

RIP, Mr. Bourdain.

A person suffering from depression may come to believe his loved ones (and the rest of the world) are better off without him, no matter how untrue it may be. Some of the most successful people have suffered from depression. It's not as simple as this errant belief that suicide due to depression is just "selfish" or "weak". That's what a SIMPLETON thinks it is.

I know a thing or two about depression from personal experience.

So, YOU can kiss MY ass.;)

The worst people are actually people who waffle about depression and never experienced it.

There are zillions and zillions of moments where people better should shut the fuck up.

Thank you for your comment, BS!

Rest in peace Anthony. I really enjoyed your shows. Thank you!!!

You have no idea what I know about depression.

Oerets 06-10-2018 08:18 AM

I never knew what experiencing Depression was like until a prescribed medication side effects included that gift. Caused me to seek professional help for PTSD, and many months of anguish. It was all consuming to the ones mental state, not just being blue or down. Something no one can just easily suck it up, get over and move away from.

Then you should have some knowledge of its complexity.

I posted my comment to whom it may concern.

Depression/suicide is a very precarious topic and I am sure that several PC members could contribute a lot to it but they don't because they can't even if they would dare to out themselves as mentally ill on a public platform like this forum.

HarmanKardon 06-10-2018 08:50 AM

Yes folks, it is what you suppose.

See you...

Nor you I. I visited my mother in a mental hospital and once broke into the bathroom to stop her from killing herself with glass from a broken mirror. I was diagnosed with chronic depression but, have been managing it fairly well for the last ten years or so. (Without medications.)

I choose not judge depression sufferers because of my experiences.

That's right.
