On the subject of taxes, your sales tax is on par with CA of 8+%, guess property tax is about the same or lower than the Bay Area I would guess (around 1% where we live?). So to me no state tax means you spend less money living in TX.

As for Dallas, the impact of rates itself is not that significant when property values there are a fraction of what they sell for here? Median per square foot cost of a home in the bay area is $480. Yours is $200 (Dallas-Metro) and much lower outside.
