Boom!

21,000 lb bonb dropped in ISIS underground target in Afghanistan, the largest non-nuke weapon in our arsenal. Allegedly a response to the killing of a Green Beret by ISIS forces.

Interesting....

BlueStreak 04-13-2017 12:22 PM

Oooooooo, I'm SO impressed! Thank God he's finally taking action after "absolutely no effort" made by our former president or military in eight years..................

https://www.defense.gov/News/Special...herent-Resolve

19,300 missions executed in the last few years, but the only ones some people seem to care about are the last two.

Interesting.

This is what your president is doing.

It makes me wonder what else we are being distracted from............

Trump possibly does not want to be questioned about his flip-flops on China (currency manipulator?), Russia (friend or foe?), NATO, Syria & Assad (in or out?), Yellen (stays or goes) and most importantly Steve Bannon (keep or fire).
So with so many daunting questions from the media he needs to address, a mega bomb is called for.

Ah, OK. Glad you've got it all figured out, Dave.

This is probably closer to the truth:

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/04/13/w...stan.html?_r=0

That the United States is now again using this type of ordnance reflects the changing nature of the foe in Afghanistan, and the fact that the Islamic State, like the Taliban and Al Qaeda, is now also using caves and tunnels.

Despite the linked article which I had read a while back, what if this unleashes a barrage of terrorist attacks by ISIS? The standard answer will be Obama created ISIS, so an easy deniability. It's not like Trump or the GOP really have a well thought out or detailed plan for ISIS or Syria. So let's see what the aftershocks look like after the Boom.

Syria, lob a few missiles. N. Korea, send a few battle ships their way. ISIS in Afghanistan, drop one MOAB. Kind of childish don't you think?

As opposed to what? ISIS is already inspiring a "barrage of terrorist attacks".

On the other hand, what if this puts a hitch in ISIS's giddy-up for a while?

So, why does the United States think it has a right to go around the world bombing the shit out of countries? Is any other country doing the same or only us?

Neither Syria nor Afghanistan has attacked us, neither has N. Korea nor Iran and I imagine they are next. Just who is the aggressor here?

Karma, it's gonna bite us hard one day.

Rajoo 04-13-2017 04:01 PM

Magic words are WMD, Terrorism and if those don't gain traction, there is always National Security.

Oerets 04-13-2017 05:11 PM

Well it has been a week since the last new grabbing bombing. Maybe we can look forward to every Thursday another!

Interesting....

What a wuss...he could've used a ground penetrator GBU 57 and really dusted them ISIL punks.

Ohhh, he's probably waiting to use that one on Lil' Kim.

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if yesterday's bombing was, in part, a demonstration for Kimmy.

Trump keeps claiming that the previous administration "...did nothing for eight years.". Which is an outright lie as indicated by the attached DoD link. He is acting like carrier task forces and other U.S military presence on the Korean Peninsula is something brand new and created by him.......Which is utterly ridiculous at best. I was twice part of carrier groups patrolling near North Korea in the 1980s. Of course the implication is that he has now strapped on his cape and come to the party to show us his (allegedly) big balls. Call it grandstanding or showboating, it's all bullshit political salesmanship.

Your president is just grandstanding for the rubes in his base.

Is that you?

I also believe these things are mainly distractions from the circus that his administration has become among other things. "Look, a MOAB!".............

Guess OBL is still alive in the GOP bubble!

"How many terrorists has President Obama actually ‘taken out’? Probably more than 30,000."

This sounds like the second coming of shock and awe.

What's the next step in Afghanistan? Probably nothing.
And Syria? Waiting for Russia to act as China sits on the fence.
Iraq? Probably forgotten for now.
And N. Korea? Kim is itching for a fight and Trump is inviting him to do just that.

From Fox News.
Quote:

"North Korea is a problem, the problem will be taken care of," Trump said.

North Korea's Vice Foreign Minister Han Song-ryol said Friday Pyongyang is ready to launch a preemptive strike if the U.S. shows any sign of "reckless" military aggression.

The foreign minister added that North Korea will keep building up its nuclear arsenal in "quality and quantity," and said the country is ready to go to war if that is what Trump wants.

Yeah! Trying very hard to generate home support through spectacular or surprising military action.

I thought the same thing. It was a statement to Kim, telling him what to expect if he does his test.

If so, it's a threat we likely won't act upon. There are literally thousands of North Korean artillery pieces within range of Seoul.
