Oh Dear!

I just heard from my supervisor at work how Trump's proposed budget would impact social services. (I work in the Human Services Agency)

It is devastating!

He is proposing to eliminate several funding streams that are critical in providing basic needs for the poor and elderly.

It makes me sick.

Maybe Trump ought to try eating cat food for a week so he can afford his medications.

He wouldn't last a day if he had to walk in the shoes of our most vulnerable Americans.

finnbow 03-16-2017 03:48 PM

Not to worry. His budget is going nowhere. It is even more fatally flawed than his ridiculous TrumpCare plan.

JCricket 03-16-2017 04:14 PM

grrr................

dumb a$$ ba$TURD

I can't type anything constructive right now.

Agreed, but then again, I do not trust the GOP headed by a Ryan.

Between this, the news of the great barrier reef dying, I think it is time to start thinking a little more aggressively about our impending future and how to deal with it.

I really don't understand the thinking of the working class people who put him in office. Did they really think a silver spoon multimillionaire who has spent his life insulating himself from the rabble and screwing over the working man would suddenly turn over a new leaf and actually work for them? We're either a nation of fools, or just gullible as hell...or both.

That, and they apparently haven't been listening to what the 'Pubs were saying that could screw them

barbara 03-16-2017 05:59 PM

Oh Dear!

Ok, now that I am over the initial shock.... I can think more clearly about this.

Good chance this budget won't pass but there is also a good chance that the budget that does pass will hit social services very hard.

Aside from the impact on the poor and elderly, it will impact jobs in my department.
As the budget stands right now.... It would put about half of our department out of a job.

It's a good thing Trump has promised to create more jobs because people are going to need them. 😏

Watch the PBS Newshour interviews with Trump voters, the vast majority are three bricks shy of a load.

sheltiedave 03-17-2017 03:43 PM

Many of them would struggle to get three bricks on a pallet, folks. A marked inability to reason that Trump was proposing cheaper, better universal health care was just the beginning of his sales pitch lies.

Trump pointed his finger towards at immigrants as being the problem and he was going to do something to fix it and make America great again. And they believed him and elected him. Thus the EO's covering immigration which has stalled. Most of them still vehemently support him because they don't know any better. How do you reason with people like this?

MrPots 03-17-2017 07:40 PM

We are a nation of immigrants. He indeed is doing something about us, isn't he. We are the problem, he will eliminate us.

merrylander 03-18-2017 05:48 AM

There are two properties up for sale on our court, when they go the sales will be noted in the Post. If they get good prices and since Canada still considers me to be a citizen I might sell out and go back home. The only hold this place has on me is that my Florence loved it. She said that I had given her the only home she had lived in for more than three years and since she had picked it out with me it had everything she wanted. After she left home at eighteen she led a rather nomadic life.

Give it time Raj, give it time they will wake up. It is rather like the story of the city dweller who saw a farmer in a field beating a donkey with a big stick. He stopped and asked why the farmer was beating the poor animal. The farmer replied I am not beating it, I am just trying to get its attention.

Before Trump a large section of the American public view immigration as a
significant issue.

Problem my arse, I am an immigrant and I have brought more to this country than that pretty boy POTUS ever will.

Seriously?
Other than the talk radio echo chamber, I never got that impression.

+1

The number one issue facing humans is getting so little attention by the number one contributing country. I fear we as a species are doomed. We are already experiencing the effects.

A significant "manufactured" issue.

Just like transgender and gay issues, all right wing noise machine manufactured issues nobody would otherwise GIS about.

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—An able-bodied senior citizen who refuses to do anything but watch television receives three free government meals every day, according to reports.

The senior, who has three piping-hot meals wheeled up to him each day, reportedly has no intention of working and prefers to fill his hours watching cable news.

Even more outrageously, the recipient of the meals spends most weekends in Florida, where the flow of free government food continues without interruption.

Harland Dorrinson, the executive director of the Center for Benefit Reduction, a think tank that focuses on reducing federal benefits, called the individual’s consumption of free government meals “the worst abuse of the system I’ve ever seen.”

“I might be accused of being heartless for saying this, but this person should be thrown out on the street,” he said.

But, according to a source familiar with the senior, those calling for him to work for his meals are, at best, ill-informed. “You can’t expect someone to do a job when he’s completely unqualified,” the source said.
