One would hope that our system of checks and balances would preclude hugely negative consequences. OTOH, the GOP Congress has already showed a willingness to discard any principles they may have had (precious few) and roll over for their Trumpenfuhrer.
|
The situation is scary, Pat.
|
Yep, checks and balances gone, no way to stop a facists being put on the Supreme Court. Bill Moyer's Morning Read post does not paint a pretty picture.

Of course we have places here in the USA like in Texas where they re-wright the truth out of their textbooks for public schools. Carl |
I'm not surprised by how seemingly easy the new normal has taken hold. Americans like talking tough but are basically lazy.

The Trump hysteria on this forum has become quite a source of entertainment for me. :D

I know. Ten days without internet - ten days without political chat and without xhamster porn - would definitely kill him.

I'll start midnight tonight my time. No Political chat posting for me until after Trump is inaugurated. That will even add a couple of extra days past 10. And just think. If Trump drops dead or is assassinated between now and then, he'll never be inaugurated. That will mean I'm gone for good. ;) |

Calling for more dialog and direct communication between the two. Unlike what we were heading for with Clinton and her "Breedloves". |

Aircraft carriers are for projecting power far from your home town. If one is largely concerned with ones periphery, then carriers are luxury. The Syrian base is a glaring exception to the Russian matrix. |

Isn't it odd how the United States harangues and pokes at nations that don't play ball with american industry until those nations develop nukes as deterrents... like the nukes we have, and then we claim they are itching for a fight as an excuse to nuke them.
We call them "unstable" as if we don't have the most unstable government of them all, and we're the one country just fucked up and crazy enough to actually use nukes. It's how the United States maintains it's title as the largest weapons supplier in the world, by keeping the world at war. |

OR NEVER!

Never is so absolute a goal as to be daunting. With Trump, we may need to settle for 'well, let's not nuke anyone today...'
|
I know too many people who think a nuke is a abstract concept. One they don't think ever will happen but yet they talk like it is an option.....
Stupid!!!!!! Barney |

They doesn't get anything they want by attacking us, or anyone. They get lots and lots by talking scary, and making themselves into as big a threat as possible. That image is currency, in various negotiations. The more you take these bozos seriously, the more they get to play you. |
