One would hope that our system of checks and balances would preclude hugely negative consequences. OTOH, the GOP Congress has already showed a willingness to discard any principles they may have had (precious few) and roll over for their Trumpenfuhrer.

HarmanKardon 01-06-2017 12:57 PM

The situation is scary, Pat.

CarlV 01-06-2017 01:10 PM

Yep, checks and balances gone, no way to stop a facists being put on the Supreme Court. Bill Moyer's Morning Read post does not paint a pretty picture.

Only if you do not learn from it.
Of course we have places here in the USA like in Texas where they re-wright the truth out of their textbooks for public schools.

I'm not surprised by how seemingly easy the new normal has taken hold. Americans like talking tough but are basically lazy.

I fear that none of these mentally deficient Trump balls crawlers in this forum have the foggiest idea what dramatic global damage they will have triggered by voting for him.

Lord help us!

A person elected who does not handle being told NO very well. One who has shown only thinks of himself not others. Yes a recipe for disaster for sure!

What dramatic global damage you envisage?

Where are you living, in cloud-cuckoo-land???

A military escalation triggered by your Hitler, Sir.

The Trump hysteria on this forum has become quite a source of entertainment for me. :D

He knows. He's smart.

He just enjoys fucking with people online.

HarmanKardon 01-07-2017 11:36 AM

I know. Ten days without internet - ten days without political chat and without xhamster porn - would definitely kill him.

I'll take the political chat part of that bet.

But I'm not giving up internet and porn. ;)

HarmanKardon 01-07-2017 12:40 PM

Cool.

I'll start midnight tonight my time.

No Political chat posting for me until after Trump is inaugurated.

That will even add a couple of extra days past 10.

And just think. If Trump drops dead or is assassinated between now and then, he'll never be inaugurated. That will mean I'm gone for good. ;)

Contrary to that the guy is calling for de-escalating between the two most nuclear armed powers.

Calling for more dialog and direct communication between the two.

Unlike what we were heading for with Clinton and her "Breedloves".

Somehow according to the narrative that's being pushed today Trump is a traitor because he is best buds with Putin, who he is also going to start World War III with.

The cognitive dissonance being displayed is stunning.

Trump will nuke Iran, or North Korea, or both. He'll just have to nuke somebody.

Aircraft carriers are for projecting power far from your home town. If one is largely concerned with ones periphery, then carriers are luxury.

The Syrian base is a glaring exception to the Russian matrix.

North Korea is pleading to be nuked.

MrPots 01-07-2017 06:54 PM

Isn't it odd how the United States harangues and pokes at nations that don't play ball with american industry until those nations develop nukes as deterrents... like the nukes we have, and then we claim they are itching for a fight as an excuse to nuke them.

We call them "unstable" as if we don't have the most unstable government of them all, and we're the one country just fucked up and crazy enough to actually use nukes.

It's how the United States maintains it's title as the largest weapons supplier in the world, by keeping the world at war.

Between incredibly massive collateral damage, and the effect on the attitudes and policy of everyone else in the world, I trust you can't be serious. We've somehow managed not to cross this threshold for 70 years now; how about we go for a hundred?

Oerets 01-07-2017 08:36 PM

OR NEVER!

Barney

donquixote99 01-07-2017 08:55 PM

Never is so absolute a goal as to be daunting. With Trump, we may need to settle for 'well, let's not nuke anyone today...'

Oerets 01-07-2017 09:00 PM

I know too many people who think a nuke is a abstract concept. One they don't think ever will happen but yet they talk like it is an option.....

Stupid!!!!!!

I am serious. Every day the guy threatens to dump one on us. We see him preparing. It is not like he is hiding his intentions. He is boldly stating that he going to fuck us up. The US leadership has a responsibility to its citizens to dismantle this guy's budding capability...with perhaps lean mean tactical nuclear weapons.

If he 'dumped one on us' then what would happen? Think we'd surrender, or what?

They doesn't get anything they want by attacking us, or anyone. They get lots and lots by talking scary, and making themselves into as big a threat as possible. That image is currency, in various negotiations.

The more you take these bozos seriously, the more they get to play you.
