So what 47% of non voting registered voters' part in this?
Oh HRC has it made, guess I'll skip it and sit on the couch with a beer and watch the returns.

Who knew that gutting the Voting Rights Act would result in less polling stations with long lines and even longer waiting times? As the Whiner in Chief predicted, this election was rigged. Rigged in his favor, of course.

Anyone who cared to think about it for more than* 5 seconds.

Edited so as not to offend those with short attention spans.

Still counting after two friggin weeks!

What the FUCK is WRONG with people out in California that they can't get their sorry asses in gear and count all their votes in some kind of a reasonable time frame?

finnbow 11-22-2016 03:22 PM

I think all the fascination and rumination over the popular votes misses two things. First, of course, is that it doesn't count. Second is that if it were a popular vote, both campaigns would have been run quite differently with different results (that we will never know).

You're right on both counts.

There is no way to determine how the popular vote would have gone without the electoral college. Both campaigns would have employed radically different strategies.

I didn't fully realize the difference between being in a swing state and a safe state until I moved from Florida to Alabama.

Every election year Central Florida was like a political carnival.

But this year in Alabama it seemed like there wasn't even an election going on.

Reason to be careful what you wish for. Democrats normally have 230 or so built in.

I want the President to be chosen by the people Zero.

You got a problem with that?

Get over it. Hillary lost because the women, blacks, Hispanic's and millennial's opted not to vote and stay home instead. As for rigging.........never mind.

Tom Joad 11-22-2016 05:53 PM

I'm looking at Bob's link and I see that Hillary's margin of victory in California is about 3.5 million votes. You take California out of the mix and instead of winning the popular vote by 1.75 million, she lost by 1.75 million.

So she ran up the score in the popular vote with all those Latte sipping elitists out in California but lost in the electoral college to the working stiffs in the rust belt that she and Bill gave the shaft to with NAFTA.

I call that poetic justice. :D

What if Trump won because hundreds of thousands were thrown off the voter rolls for BS reasons?

Quote:

The Election was Stolen – Here’s How…

Before a single vote was cast, the election was fixed by GOP and Trump operatives.

Starting in 2013 – just as the Supreme Court gutted the Voting Rights Act – a coterie of Trump operatives, under the direction of Kris Kobach, Kansas Secretary of State, created a system to purge 1.1 million Americans of color from the voter rolls of GOP–controlled states.

The system, called Crosscheck, is detailed in my Rolling Stone report,
“The GOP’s Stealth War on Voters,” 8/24/2016.

Crosscheck in action:
Trump victory margin in Michigan: 13,107
Michigan Crosscheck purge list: 449,922

Trump victory margin in Arizona: 85,257
Arizona Crosscheck purge list: 270,824

Trump victory margin in North Carolina: 177,008
North Carolina Crosscheck purge list: 589,393

It's possible, but hard to prove since the margins aren't that small and several states would have had to be flipped. Not like 2000 when it was just one state that needed to be flipped and only a 547 vote margin. I personally think it was due to a huge enthusiasm gap. Trump voters were amped. Hillary's were holding their noses. Both Bernie and Trump were packing in crowds of 10,000 20,000, and even more into their rallies. They were rock stars. Hillary was drawing a few hundred. And when Bernie pivoted after the election and started stumping for her, his crowds dwindled down to a few hundred.

By the way, Gore won Florida. That election was stolen. And it wasn't by hanging chads, or the butterfly ballot or voter suppression.

It happened in Seminole County where the supervisor of elections allowed Republican operatives to go right into the elections office and tamper with absentee ballots.

There are 5000 or so counties in the U.S.

Hillary won 300.

Says the loser.

What the left needs to do is put Keith Ellison in as head of the DNC.

That will work out just peachy.

I'm a Bernie Bro.

I lost my election back in July.

I consider Trump's win a victory for me. :D

As for the DNC fuck them. I want the Democratic Establishment destroyed.

And Trump is going to destroy the Republican establishment.

The us Bernie Bros are going to rise like a Phoenix from the ashes. :D

Well shit, if that's the goalpost just eliminate all her votes and Don will have a landslide of 24.7% of the voting public.

Last I checked California's economy is number six in the world if it were a separate country. Maybe there is something to the secession movement? We could join up with Oregon and Washington while leaving all those moocher red states to fend for themselves. We could even nuke Alabama as a parting gift to the good ol' US of A, after airlifting PIO and the rest of the Democrats out, of course. :D
Of course you'd be welcome Potter.

Cascadia is generally imagined as a libertarian heaven. Which offers a ready answer to the piles-of-imports, or not.

Let the market handle it.

So why does it take California so long to count the votes?

http://www.npr.org/2016/11/22/503052...unting-ballots

Quote:

Well, for one thing, blame coffee.

"Coffee stains look just like an oval mark," says Sacramento County Assistant Registrar of Voters Alice Jarboe. "So we have to remove all those coffee stains."

Yes, it seems at least some Californians like to fill out their vote-by-mail ballots over breakfast.

And it gets worse: jam and jelly.

"We do find those on the ballot," Jarboe says. "Those gum up our vote counting machines, so we will remake those ballots."

Remaking a ballot doesn't happen quickly. Two election workers pair up to copy the votes from the damaged ballot onto an unmarked duplicate.
Are you shitin me?

If these SLOBS can't fill out their ballots without getting their breakfast all over them, fuck them. Throw the damned things in the garbage!

The constitution guarantees your right to vote, not your right to use your ballot as a goddamned placemat.
