Mr. Trump's Great America

We've turned back time fifty years thanks to Trump.

Further then that, Unions and taxes on the wealthy were light years ahead fifty years ago.

Racism and hate just became mainstream it seems again.

I needed to remind family members this week after a long tirade on immigrants. That our Grandparents were illegal and Mom would be considered an anchor baby. Response, but that was Canada!

Yes, yes.... You are right.

A German political columnist said recently that Trump is dreaming of the social/political conditions of the 50s.

Another more hopeful assessment.

I read somewhere where somebody interviewed a bunch of Trump supporters of various ages and asked them specifically what years were being referred to in Trump's motto of "Make America Great Again." Interestingly, the most common answer was back to a time when the respondent was 6-7 years old. This represents a time when they were carefree children with no responsibility, job, or knowledge of world affairs with parents who would take care of their every need.

I guess I wouldn't mind being 7 years old again, but don't really think that Trump has a time machine that could help me.;)

Pio1980 11-12-2016 12:54 PM

An election based totally on misinformation and blatant lies. I've been listening to interviews with Trumpkins regurgitating utter nonsense that won't pass fact checking.

I think what disgusts me the most is we're just now cleaning up the mess from the last republican...well the wars are still draining our coffers dry but the economy is on the mend, and here we go again. When are we going to realize that like many things already illegal, republicans are terribly bad for the country, they cost the economy trillions, and they need to be outlawed, imprisoned in their own for profit prisons even. They aren't a political party, they are a domestic terrorist group.

Trump nontheless presents as the Big Wonderful Daddy of our nation, who will solve everyone's problems for them. How? He just will--that's what daddies do.

I guess your observation will result in me responding to Tom Joad's and Whell's posts with "Who's your Daddy?";)

Everything the more simple of them know is wrong. One of the huge divides in this country is between 'know reality' and 'know only propaganda fantasies.'

Tom Joad 11-12-2016 01:09 PM

Yeah, there are violent riots going on all over the country.

And 99% of it is being instigated and perpetrated by the loser Hillarybots.

http://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-w...eclared-a-riot

Quote:

A Portland, Ore., demonstration against President-elect Donald Trump included a group of people who engaged in "criminal and dangerous behavior," authorities say, leading police to declare the Thursday night gathering a riot.

Some protesters smashed windows, lit a dumpster on fire, threw objects at police and lit firecrackers, according to The Associated Press.

Police say they responded with non-lethal munitions fired into the crowd, and that 26 people were arrested. The AP has more from the scene:

"Officers began physically pushing back against the crowd that at times threw objects at them as midnight approached, arresting several people and using flash-bang devices and types of smoke or tear gas to force people to disperse.

"After several orders to leave, police said officers used "less lethal munitions," such as pepper spray and rubber projectiles. Live video footage showed officers firing what appeared to be the non-lethal items. It wasn't immediately clear if anyone was hit."

Property damage was "widespread," according to The Portland Mercury.

Given the age groups as reported it sounds more like either Bernie Bros or the young people who stayed home on election day.

Pio1980 11-12-2016 01:25 PM

Guess some folks aren't thrilled with the prospect of being ruled by a crude impulsive hostile demagogue for the next four years.
Go figure.

Bingo. There's a Jill Stein supporter in Miami organizing demonstrations there.
Maybe Joad can hop a flight and go help them?

You people no longer have even the finest thread of a connection to reality. I have never seen a more extreme case of psychological group think than what prevails right here on this forum among the Hillarybots.

As for these spoiled rotten Hillarybrats that are rioting, they had better get their heads out of their asses and stand down. Because if they don't, the Trumpsters WILL take a giant shit on them. And I will be cheering them on when they do.

Oerets 11-12-2016 01:54 PM

Just who are they gonna blame now when $hit hits the fan again? That is what scares me at night of late. Will not be themselves you can bet!

Portland, particularly SE Portland, was ground zero for Bernie support. You're too hateful to understand, but those kids rioting in Portland were avid Bernie supporters until Bernie lost the primary and they took the logical step of supporting Hillary. Just because you were unable to take such a logical step, you needn't lash out at those who were able to do so.

Don't bother lashing out at me as I don't give a rat's ass what a hateful person such as you thinks anyway. Go stew in your own juices.

while I do not condone violent riots on behalf of either party it is disturbing how the Trumpies are ready to punch, smack, or hurt in any other way those who feel it is ok to express their opposition to our new daddy.

Here's some reality -

"Protest organizer David Michael, a 30-year-old community activist who voted for Jill Stein, carried a bullhorn to direct the orders to the Miami demonstrators.

“Once I saw other people protesting white supremacy, I said, ‘You know what? We need to do one in Miami,’” Michael said. “We got the word out on social media like Facebook, all of that.”" WaPo

The rioters are your people, dimwit.

Many protest leaders had supported Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont in the Democratic primary and either did not vote or chose a third-party candidate in the presidential election, said Ben Becker, an organizer with the Answer Coalition, an antiwar and antiracism activist group based in New York.

I'd be willing to bet that most of the rioters didn't vote and don't give a shit about politics.

Of course but Trump still has to sign off on any austerity measures unless there's a veto proof majority in congress (which the GOP currently lacks).

If Trump enacts one quarter of his economic agenda with a willing hand from the likes of Paul Ryan and McConnell we will both be well and truly screwed. Your gubmint pension and my SS won't be worth the Weimar era deutschemarks they're printed on. At least I still have a wheelbarrow. ;)

Going from supporting Bernie to supporting Hillary is not, IMHO, a logical step.

As for stewing in my own juices, I dunno Finn. I'm pleased as punch that Trump won. Does that count as stewing?:D

What's amazing to me is all of the folks who are writing, hoping, praying for trump to fail, and he's not even taken office yet. I suspect the folks who are doing this are the same folks who had a cow when Limbaugh said that he hoped Obama failed.
