Post Your Election News

Listening to jazz this early election day morning and just heard on the AP radio news that Trump has taken the early lead in New Hampshire, 32 to 25.

Dixville has a long history of fixed elections. ;)

Three notable ballot issues for Colorado
1. Universal Health care - an amendment to the constitution. Essentially, in my words, give us money and we will figure out how to make it work. No thanks!!

2. An amendment ot the constitution to make it more difficult to make amendments. Essentially, change it from majority of voters(50% +1) to a minimum of 55% for a change. There are some real benefits and drawbacks in this, but weighed against the current law, I votes yes.

3. The most interesting. If you are registered as a GOP or Dem, you can vote in that parties primary only. If you are not registered in those parties you have no say. The new law would allow people to register as independant. If you are registered as such, you can cast your vote for whatever candidate you see fit, regardless of party. I votes yes.

Good.

If that law had been in effect in all 50 states Bernie would have easily defeated Hillary.

Rain forecast in lower Michigan today. We'll see what, if any, impact that has on voter turnout.

I also doubt that Trump would be the GOP candidate. I would hope it would put more centered, more moderate candidates on the ballot.

No problems voting here.

I got there a little after 8 AM and there was a steady stream of voters coming and going but no long lines and very little waiting.

I was in and out in about 10 minutes.

They accepted my passport for ID without batting an eye.

That sure took the wind out of my sails.:(

I wouldn't worry about your sails..... You've got enough hot air to sustain an ocean voyage.

But funny.

Yeah, that's another thing Barb has in common with Hillary.

Her sense of humor.

The passport is the gold standard for IDs so why were they going to give you a hard time, especially if it is accepted as valid under Alabama rules.

Now making the passport a required ID and invalidating state driver licenses as an accepted ID would be voter suppression.

When it comes to nasty you have me beat by miles and you even brag about it here on this forum and enjoy every minute of it.

What a putz!

Says the nasty woman that started throwing shit.

All I made was an innocuous and actually somewhat self effacing post, which you couldn't resist taking a cheap shot at.

So if you are looking for nasty, look in a mirror.

If you can find one in your house that isn't broken that is.

What that type of attitude, it's little wonder you supported der Trumpenfuhrer.

Oh! Oh! Look how victimized I am! The nasty people are victimizing me!

Tom, if you actually want to see some nasty, just say so. The scale goes a bunch higher than anything posted in this thread so far....

(for entertainment purposes only) :)

All I was trying to do is post some election news like the thread title says.

It's OK. You did good. I'm sorry the nasty woman made a funny joke about you. :)

Oh cry me a river.....

You have gone out of your way to be the resident jerk and have stated on several occasions that you enjoy ruffling the feathers of others.

Typical coward.... Can dish it out but can't take it.

Good news, I just now woke up to a beautiful morning.
Bad news, have to go and vote later.
Worst news, entire world will be laughing at us by end of the day.

I think they are already doing that.

At least in those countries that we aren't bombing or threatening to bomb.

It's cloudy and gray here.

But that's actually good because in spite of this being the rainiest city in the continental US we are in a month long drought, so rain would be welcome.

This is obviously due to climate change, which one of our major party candidates claims is a hoax, and the other one says is real, but that we can frack and pipeline our way out of it. :(

You meant you're in the rainiest city in the contiguous US, right? Because we're still on the same continent up here, and I'm pretty sure Ketchikan or Petersburg have you beat on rain.

Our polls opened at 7a.m. Got there at 7:25 and the workers said they'd already seen more people than they had all day for the primary. Drove by my old polling place on my way to work and it was hopping too. I guess a lot of people are thinking like me- want to vote before we start hearing results from the east coast.

Wasillaguy 11-08-2016 12:39 PM

We had a prop to automatically register to vote everyone on the rolls for a Permanent Fund Dividend check. I says NO. If people are interested in voting, they'll get registered. Having a bunch of people registered who have no intention of voting just invites fraud.

Another for the state to issue bonds to fund lowering student loan rates. I says NO. We have very low default rates on student loans up here, and I'm a firm believer that the more gov gets involved, the higher tuition costs go.

Lots of judges wanting to be retained. I says NO. If we had a decent judge, I'd know his name.

Yep, Mobile is the wettest in the continental US (along with a bunch of other cities on the Gulf Coast), but still far behind a number of locations in Hawaii and Alaska.

Is it the rainiest though, i.e. days with precipitation?

It rains on average 228 days per year in Ketchikan and 104/year in Mobile.

I can go with the welfare check thing.

Anybody should be able to register and obtain whatever lameass ID that state wants, at no charge, at any city, county, state, or federal office, period. Anything else is discriminatory IMO. :)

Back when I was still traveling around the state quite a bit, southeast Alaska had a very dry summer one year. I went down there and everyone was grumpy and complaining about how hot it was (average 70F), and bitching because they had to buy water (most have rain catchment/cisterns instead of wells)
