Welcome to Trump's America

A school-age child at a Donald Trump rally on Tuesday stood up and yelled "Take the bitch down" after the candidate mentioned Hillary Clinton. His mother later defended the child's right to speak and blamed his language on "Democratic schools."

Of course she blamed it on democratic schools.....😏

By the way, where are those democratic schools she sent her child to? Where I live, we have public schools and private schools.

Here here! Civility tends to reduce conflict, while enhancing communication and cooperation! Plus it's always pleasant in its own right! I heartily endorse your sentiments on keeping civil and respectful!

barbara 08-04-2016 03:00 PM

Civil and respectful...

That excludes passive aggressive posts that sound all polite but, in reality, delivers just as much of an attack as the person who is more direct.

From the comments section (talking about whether Trump's military advisor is one of the Generals from Dr. Strangelove):

BTW, in case Le Donald gets elected, I'll apply as Dr. Westerheimer, well Dr. Strangelove. I am already practising "Jawohl, mein Führer!", but repeatly clicking my heels has resulted in a painful heel spur...

"WASHINGTON, D.C. (The Borowitz Report)—A humanitarian crisis has been unfolding over the past week as Republican refugees seeking asylum have overrun the Democratic National Committee headquarters, in Washington, D.C.

D.N.C. staffers have confirmed that they were woefully unprepared for the masses of desperate Republicans who have shown up at the D.N.C.’s door, looking for safe harbor.

“These people have been brutalized for months and have decided to risk everything to save themselves and their families,” D.N.C. staffer Tracy Klugian said. “When they tell you their stories, they are absolutely heartbreaking.”..." The New Yorker

The ship still sinks. Are the rats smarter than the passengers?

Well, if you were still of draft age that would be your ticket out!

Yes, I thought that the subtle dig was quite creative.

Yes, the press headlines quoted at the end of that piece show the media hasn't figured out how to report Trump yet.

The correct headline would have been: "Trump issues thinly-veiled call for Hillary assassination."

The problem isn't Trump. The problem is what Americans have become willing to accept.

Pio1980 08-10-2016 01:08 PM

QFT.
The Limbotomised zombies of the idiocracy have dumbed the country down to having this fact-ignorant pompous narcissistic bullshit artist as the flag bearer of that faction.

Setting aside that nice guys always finish last and moral and ethical behavior never made anyone rich.

The problem is the republican party. They want to turn the USA into an anarchy where the strongest rule and assassination is how one eliminates opponents.

So true and just the fact that Trump is a candidate from one of only two major parties is downright scary.

Not to make excuses for the Republicans but a lot of the people who support Trump don't identify with the Republican Party and Trump is supported by people not a party. Trump is symptomatic of a soul sickness in the American people that will take decades to heal.

donquixote99 08-10-2016 04:26 PM

It never heals it just waxes and wanes. Last really bad case was McCarthy.

Having lived through both, I can assure you that this is much, much worse.

Kind of a drive by from old Bill. True, of course, but lacking in intellectual argument.

The other thing that occurred to me was to wonder how Buckley would react to the news that the electorial board of the magazine he founded now includes such luminaries as Glenn Beck and Dana Loesch.

Pio1980 08-12-2016 06:09 PM

W. B. Fuckley wasn't one of my favorite pundits, but his prescience here is notable.

Buckley was more impressed with himself than I was with him, though it is refreshing to see that conservatism is capable of spawning an intellectual. Compared to today's Teabagger/Trump crowd, at least he could string together a few coherent sentences.
