Setting aside that nice guys always finish last and moral and ethical behavior never made anyone rich.

The problem is the republican party. They want to turn the USA into an anarchy where the strongest rule and assassination is how one eliminates opponents.

Not to make excuses for the Republicans but a lot of the people who support Trump don't identify with the Republican Party and Trump is supported by people not a party. Trump is symptomatic of a soul sickness in the American people that will take decades to heal.

It never heals it just waxes and wanes. Last really bad case was McCarthy.

Having lived through both, I can assure you that this is much, much worse.

I want to believe this.

The other thing that occurred to me was to wonder how Buckley would react to the news that the electorial board of the magazine he founded now includes such luminaries as Glenn Beck and Dana Loesch.

W. B. Fuckley wasn't one of my favorite pundits, but his prescience here is notable.

Buckley was more impressed with himself than I was with him, though it is refreshing to see that conservatism is capable of spawning an intellectual. Compared to today's Teabagger/Trump crowd, at least he could string together a few coherent sentences.
