Putin vs Hillary - The email leaks

I think this deserves its own thread.

Cyber security experts and U.S. officials said on Monday there was evidence that Russia engineered the release of sensitive Democratic Party emails in order to influence the U.S. presidential election.

http://www.reuters.com/article/us-us...-idUSKCN1051TD

It'll be interesting to see the impact upon the campaign as this fleshes out. I can imagine a brutally effective Democratic add campaign aimed at Putin orchestrating email leaks to damage HRC while cozying up to der Trumpster - a non-agression pact, as it were.

Dondilion 07-25-2016 04:58 PM

Enough If and but and maybe so to conclude that it is NOISE to give cover to Hillary right hand girl's shenanigans.

The hackers did the public a favor.

bobabode 07-25-2016 05:03 PM

Putin/Trump 2016!

donquixote99 07-25-2016 05:06 PM

What really gives this legs is the immediately-preceding out-of-the-blue Trump statement that aid against aggression under the NATO treaty will be 'optional' on our part.

Makes it plausible that the leaks on convention eve happened because Trump paid a specified price....

Tom Joad 07-25-2016 05:19 PM

And of course the Clintonista Kool Aid Drinkers ignore the 900 lbs Gorilla in the room which is:

Why the FUCK does Putin have Clinton's sensitive emails?

d-ray657 07-25-2016 05:21 PM

Even if the Dems were able to join Trump and Putin at the hip for the rest of the campaign, I'm afraid that there are too many who would find that pairing attractive - two strong guys who get things done.

They're DNC emails, not Hillary emails (for the moment, anyway). The same guys hacked into State and several other government agencies as well as the German Bundestag (parliament).

Oh!

Well excuse me!

That would make it only an 899 lbs Gorilla in the room.

My bad.

For a long time Trump has been hammering NATO and other such groups for not helping themselves. He pointed out that only five out of the 28 NATO countries meet the required 2% GDP requirement.

That as to Europe Germany, France and England should lead and give US a rest.

He also mentioned Japan and Korea in their area and about the burden of bases.

The US should not be naive. A number of countries are calling for US troops/bases to supplement their economy.

And don't go sounding like a tourist and ask for "poo-teen". Them Canuck's call it "poo-ten", you know, like that Russian buddy of Trump's.

Does "Yonge" rhyme with sponge?

No, it's a homophone of young. I didn't know how it was spelled until I went there and saw the street signs. Always thought it was Young Street.

Pio1980 07-25-2016 11:59 PM

Thot it might be "yon-gee" with hard 'g'.
Nope, I'm not from there.
Have relatives in Calgary tho.

Back to the topic, isn't it fun to see all these racist comments in the DNC's emails, after the big scene that was made sifting through LEO emails looking for the same thing.
And homophobic slurs too! What a lovely bunch of hypocrites.

Red team, blue team. It's the same game played by the same rules so it attracts the same kind of people.

True, but when you keep seeing projection of one side's sins thrown at the other side, you're seeing one of the best indicators of narcissism, at the herd level.

Dondi the Japanese people would love to get the Marines the fuck out of Okinawa.

Now you all know why Assange is hiding in the Bolivian embassy in London - some life forms cannot tolerate daylight.

Is he a life form if he can't survive on his own?

The Chinese and North Koreans may have given them pause on that.

Most plants, and absolutely all animals, cannot survive 'on their own.'

No because the Japanese parliament is about to change their Constitution so that their armed forces are not restricted solely to a defensive posture.

With our consent, I'd suppose.
I'd also suppose they'd prefer having a sympathetic well armed ally close to hand, one way or another.

They're going to try. No guarantee of success though. And that won't replace having a strong ally already on the ground should the need arise.

D'oh!

merrylander 07-26-2016 02:05 PM

Perhaps but they value their daughter's more so than a 'powerful ally on the ground. Thet might not object if they always stayed on the ground

This isn't a rampant phenomenon, tho an international public relations disaster when it has occurred.

One is too many, obviously.
Alcohol doesn't help, and neither does the lax "boys will be boys" filtered thru macho attitude.

One would have to know statistically what the commission rate of sex crimes is for American servicemen versus the Okinawan (or Japanese) male population. If GIs commit these crimes disproportionately, then we have a (military) cultural problem. (I think that's probably the case.)

“Russia, if you’re listening I hope you’re able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing.”

- Trump this morning soliciting cooperation from his mentor, Putin.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...b-446d95b0bc92

Not much later, Mike Pence said:

“The FBI will get to the bottom of who is behind the hacking. If it is Russia and they are interfering in our elections, I can assure you both parties and the United States government will ensure there are serious consequences."

WTF?

Pence is smarter than his boss. Way smarter. Not that I agree with anything he believes in.

Pence would be the brains of this outfit, Trump just wants the title.
And yes, that is scary if you are invested in Progressive policies like fair pay, clean water and air, pure safe food and drugs, and holding miscreants who profit from violating these standards accountable.
Want to spend instead on crony capitalism and live on a pittance in a Continental garbage pit, go TrumPence.

Trump will undoubtedly chastise Pence for his bellicosity. Wouldn't it be fun if Trump had to fire Pence before the election. Shades of Tom Eagleton.

Wasillaguy 07-27-2016 12:45 PM

Or maybe it's just a good cop/bad cop routine. Trump flips the lure out, Pence reels it back.

If he starts to slip in the polls to Hillary, I expect this to happen especially since he is not beholden to the mainstream GOP. This guy has always been a poor decision maker and shoots from the hip.

Hope it happens since that would help the other horrid candidate to eke out a win.
