Republican Convention

With the recent shootings in Dallas and Baton Rouge, those folks in Cleveland are rethinking their gun laws and trying to find a legal way to temporarily suspend the open carry law.

I thought they were supposed to be safer with more guns....😏

sheltiedave 07-17-2016 08:42 PM

I wish we could have 3000 people standing outside the convention center, all with open carry AR 15s, Uzis, and 50 round chambered "hunting" guns. It would be an NRA dream come true.

Now have a car drive past and backfire, loudly.

Open bar and open carry. What could go wrong?

Rajoo 07-17-2016 09:51 PM

Better yet, free drinks for those that are carrying a gun. :)

Oerets 07-17-2016 10:38 PM

Earlier today a TV reporter asked a Camo wearing Bushmaster wielding, banana mags in pouches walking down the street, paraphrasing liberties taken ... "you going to carry that tomorrow?" Quick reply "NO WAY!"....."I advise all to leave their weapons at home!" The look on his face was pure fear complicating the thought!

He had the looks of a twelve year old just showing off his toys!

Or someone shouts "Allahu Akbar". :D

I wonder how many of these COP shooters ever voted Republican ? Talk about reflection of the Democrat Party.

Zero, right wingers do outrageous violence too. But I call on you to cool it on the partisan taunts, expecially ones that, like yours, could be taken to justify retaliatory violence. I'm sure you wouldn't actually want to see an escalating cycle of killing.

nailer 07-18-2016 10:17 AM

Open carry is idiocracy in action.

sheltiedave 07-18-2016 10:22 AM

Zero, both of the cop killers served in the military. If you served, you would know our military branches are somewhere to the right of Attila the Hun, politically.

Stockholm syndrome, given the fright wing's track record on 'aftermarket' vet support and tax cuts.
We vets owe Reagan a big "Fuck You!" for reneging on dental care for vets, f.i.

Accusing me of partisan taunts in this place is a little comical don't you think ?

bobabode 07-18-2016 11:22 AM

Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart will be teaming up to cover the Republi-con National Convention.

Ah. The place makes you do it?

Funny to read all the bleating by the sheep in this thread about Ohio's open carry law, when Ohio is nowhere near the top of the list of states in incidents of gun violence.

But it's a state that amply demonstrates that open carry only applies to white people. Just ask the loved ones of Tamir Rice and John Crawford.

And that were holding toy guns.

sheltiedave 07-18-2016 12:27 PM

Whell, the people bleating about open carry in Ohio are the Secret Service, the FBI, the Ohio governor, the RNC, and police forces. They all want it suspended, with no cc into the convention.

As far as violent gun acts, we only need to look at states which line up on the conservative side for leadership Afa number of incidents. Thanks for the reminder!

Pio1980 07-18-2016 01:04 PM

Nothing says "shoot me first" like open carry.
No way, no how.

It made me laugh. :D

So are you saying that Trump will kneel before Bush I at the convention?

bobabode 07-18-2016 05:04 PM

The Cluster**** in Cleveland gets off to a rocky start as the Colorado and Iowa delegations stage a walkout. :D

The 1860 Republican Convention was a cluster fuck in its own right. Maybe Trump will be the next great Republican president.

Well that "never trump" mutiny lasted about as long as the coup in Turkey. Both of which were kabuki.

It's not how long it lasted, just that it happened at all on opening day.
You do realize that this will all add up to be campaign fodder for Hillary.

If you say so.
I think it just bolsters the idea that Trump upsets the apple cart, and folks want to see those apples all over the street.

Trump has given and will continue to give all the campaign fodder Clinton could desire, but Hillary doesn't appear to be much of a campaigner and is despicable to boot in the eyes of many. The winner will the one who appears the least despicable to the most independent voters and it's media driven perceptions that will determine this. Heaven help us all. Should be one hell of a show though.

donquixote99 07-18-2016 11:30 PM

I didn't think Kabuki usually had an actual body count.

Well damn, my wife and I were raised with the same values. Along with countless millions of others who have said it over and over forever. But, since Michelle said it at a previous convention does that mean that Trump and his wife didn't grow up with the same values, she just can't say it, or what ?

God, I hope Bill doesn't say that he and Hillary grew up with the same values, or lack of them.

I heard the two speeches played together and the EXACT wording is indisputable. Even if one shares values, it is doubtful that the same exact words/sentences would be used to express those values.
