FBI's Comey says no case against Clinton

http://www.cnbc.com/2016/07/05/fbi-d...ns-emails.html

This deserves a thread of it's own IMO.

Quote:

FBI Director James Comey said his office is not recommending prosecutors bring charges against Hillary Clinton for her handling of classified information in connection with private email servers while secretary of state.

"Although the Department of Justice makes final decisions on matters like this, we are expressing to Justice our view that no charges are appropriate in this case," Comey said Tuesday.

Tom Joad 07-05-2016 06:27 PM

What a travesty!

This stinks to the high heavens.

Obviously the fix was in on this one, just like it was in the primaries.

The best evidence was and still is the "Super Delegates" IMO.

She is obviously guilty as Hell and got off Scott free.

My prediction is that this will backfire on her just like the OJ not guilty verdict backfired on him.

LOL, like Bush & Cheney?

Take the 911/Iraq lies15 years later and half a million body bags filled and we are still there.

And Bush did cause the formation of ISIS too. Hmmm, maybe that is why the goppers want terrorists to be able to buy AR15's unchecked.

The GOP has to spend all of it's efforts on witch hunts else they'd be accused of doing nothing at all. They certainly don't govern......

And thank god for that too because everywhere they've tried for the past 30 years has been a total and complete disaster.

As usual, Rep. Cummings gets right to the point.

"Republican after Republican praised Director Comey's impeccable record of independence—right up until the moment he issued his conclusion," said the committee's top Democrat, Rep. Elijah Cummings of Maryland. "The only emergency here is that yet another Republican conspiracy theory is slipping away." ABC

Sorry, but a reasonable person can look at the facts in this case and wonder whether justice was honestly served. Comey laid out the case against Clinton pretty well. He then stated that "no reasonable prosecutor would bring such a case."

When you look at the law, Section (d) here, its pretty hard to reconcile Comey's statement that "no reasonable prosecutor would bring such a case". The law states that negligence is a threshold, not intent. Comey lays out negligence chapter and verse in his statement.

Comey took no questions at the end of his statement yesterday. I don't think its unreasonable to ask him questions about how he came to his conclusion that "no reasonable prosecutor would bring such a case" when the law seems to be pretty clear.

Except it isn't over, not by a long shot. Comey hasn't done her any favors. He may have kept her out of prison but he has severely damaged her in terms of her suitability for office and her ability to boast of her accomplishments.

That's Hillary's best and only selling point, 'vote for me because I am better than Trump'.

I was speaking to youngster from Cal Poly at a 4th of July barbecue, a second year Engineering student who is of the opinion that most of his friends and acquaintances will not be voting for Hillary or Trump. Hi reason was that they are simply tired of the status quo and/or voting for the better of the two evils. Smart guy who will go far in life. :)

Too bad your mind is shut so tight.
There are many reasons why Hilary is qualified for the office.... You just don't want to admit it.

And no...... I'm not cheerleading for Hilary because of your delusion that I have some sort of political religion. I'm just saying what is factual.

Zeke 07-06-2016 05:44 PM

Meh.

The only "fix" is that there was no evidence of criminality.

Live with it AND her Presidency. I'm cool with both.

Barbara, 'in my opinion', you have always been in the pro-Hillary ranks. I have been opposed to her candidacy from the very beginning. You may want to revisit Page 6 of the 'Hillary for President' thread.

So Bob and ice call me a Hillary hater and DQ99 has his doubts. Now you are claiming that my mind is shut tight. All along all I claimed and have claimed that in my opinion Hillary is one of the least qualified candidates for President. And let's not even bring Trump into this discussion.

And back to our differences regarding Hillary, she does have a shrill voice (thus the nickname Shrillary) and has very poor campaigning skills by her own admission.

She recently herself admitted that she is in an uphill fight about her trust factor. With the FBI pronouncement, this is only going to get worse especially with the independents.

I really feel sorry for Obama for having to stand up for and with her and campaign with a straight face, and yes I know it's a form of payback and not deep seeded admiration.

Is my mind shut tight enough?

"In your opinion"
You see...... You never considered my words when I explained my position because you already had your own opinion about where I stood. That is exactly why I say you have a closed mind.

Sure, I like Hilary. But, I would have liked Sanders if he were to be the the one. I found good things in both of them that I could support. I've expressed this many times before and yet you insist you know my feelings better than I do..... A closed mind only hears what it wants to.

I don't think picking on her voice is really much of a comment of her competency for the office. In fact.... That's really lame.

As for trust..... All politicians have trust issues. She has her flaws but when it comes to which candidate can be trusted more..... She is in a far better position than Trump.

No candidate will be perfect.... Ever. That's just life.

You just proved my point Barbara, I am either closed minded or a hater in your mind. OTOH, every criticism that I posted regarding Hillary, you accept it as par for the course or insignificant, which then leads me to believe that you have and never will find anything wrong with 'Hillary for President'.

So there really is no middle ground.

I don't think you are a hater. I do think you are closed minded in this area.

As for the criticism of Hilary that you expressed..... Picking on her voice IS insignificant. That has nothing to do with her competency as president. It's like picking on Trumps hair.... That has nothing to do with his competency as a president either.

As I've said.... More than once.... And which you refuse to hear..... Hilary has her flaws..... You claim I don't recognize her flaws when I have stated I do. Again... You are listening to what you think I should be feeling rather than the words I write.

When you start conversing WITH me rather than AT me.... We might find commonality.

Really? Hmmmm.... If and when she gets back into office, I wonder if she could get a security clearance?

http://m.state.gov/mc10978.htm

THE SECURITY CLEARANCE

Eligibility for access to classified information, commonly known as a security clearance, is granted only to those for whom an appropriate personnel security background investigation has been completed. It must be determined that the individual’s personal and professional history indicates loyalty to the United States, strength of character, trustworthiness, honesty, reliability, discretion, and sound judgment, as well as freedom from conflicting allegiances and potential for coercion, and a willingness and ability to abide by regulations governing the use, handling, and protection of classified information. A determination of eligibility for access to such information is a discretionary security decision based on judgments by appropriately trained adjudicative personnel. Eligibility will be granted only where facts and circumstances indicate access to classified information is clearly consistent with the national security interests of the United States. Access to classified information will be terminated when an individual no longer has need for access.

Given the above, particularly the highlight text, anyone with Hillary's documented history wouldn't qualify. But then again, we're talking about the Clintons.

WASHINGTON — Questions raised by the F.B.I. about the State Department’s handling of Hillary Clinton’s emails have cast a cloud of doubt over the political futures of a number of her top advisers, including some expected to hold high-level jobs in her administration if she is elected president.
and,

Among those drawing the most intense scrutiny are Cheryl Mills, Huma Abedin and Jake Sullivan, onetime aides who could face difficult questions in pursuing security clearances for diplomatic or national security posts because of their involvement with Mrs. Clinton’s emails.
So with the GOP house members embarking on yet another hearing on the subject and hauling Comey to testify, some very difficult questions will be raised and go on record.

I doubt that anyone in either party skirts the edge of the ethical toilet bowl yet manages to avoid getting flushed with the frequency and severity of the Clintons.

Hillary also deserves whatever bad press and ill will that she accrues from this ordeal. From the spectacular carelessness that was described in Comey's statement, to what are now quite obvious lies that she told about it, she earned it.
