Kasich has confirmed that he'll hold a press conference later today. Not much doubt as to the subject.

Tom Joad 05-04-2016 12:00 PM

Last night he was all about hanging in there.

Wonder what happened?

I know that often things that seemed like a good idea last night look quite different the next morning when they are exposed to the light of day. Maybe that's all it is.

Or maybe a deal got cut?

Kasich is the VP nominee. Nothing for Cruz.

68custom 05-04-2016 12:34 PM

cmon, these are a bunch of upstanding guys. to suggest a deal was made seems so RIGHT?

Cruz is more disliked by the GOP than Trump. Note what Boehner said about Cruz last week! Kasich on the other hand makes Trump now a formidable candidate, something I have been claiming all along. Now I will bet Kasich will be Trump's running-mate and now will have a head start on Hillary. This election now becomes Hillary's to lose.

My own conspiracy theory is that Trump probably cut a deal with Kasich way back when to help Trump get Cruz out of the running on the promise of his VP spot. Why else did Kasich hang around so long?

Boreas 05-04-2016 12:39 PM

If you listen to Trump's speech last night it's clear that he realize then that he was the last man standing.

icenine 05-04-2016 01:27 PM

Trump is King Zombie.

Kasich is not going to join him as VP. Why destroy your chances for 2020 or beyond?

He told you that did he?

I don't believe Kasich would accept an offer from Trump, whether or not he has aspirations for a future presidency.

68custom 05-04-2016 02:08 PM

no way Kasich would stoop to a VP position after playing this long and hard to be top dog!

I'm not so sure that the rules of those days apply to Trump, nor did any of the presidential nominees for those VP's stage a hostile takeover of the party on promises so out of tune with the party orthodoxy. We'll see. I'd give Kasich low odds. He'd be good for Trump, no doubt. But, I don't think it would be good for him or that he'd be willing to serve under Trump.

I doubt he'll be offered but he would take it in a second...

TRump needs a DC guy to help him with legislation and foreign policy.

That leaves Kasich out. He was one of Newt Gingivitus original 'Shut Down the Gubmint' posse under Bill Clinton.
edit - maybe that was your point re: Kasich?

68custom 05-04-2016 02:54 PM

Drumph needs the equivalent of Mini Me. :)

i am fine with his approach

68custom 05-04-2016 04:56 PM

anyone who believes Trump will or even has any interest in fulfilling most of his campaign promises is in a dreamlike state! Free walls and lower taxes with an expanded military, yeah right...
I think he may just want another feather in his cap...

And what Hillary wants is to be the first woman president.

Shit, I believe Kasich would get down on his knees and suck Trump's dick for the VP slot.

Maybe he'll pull a Palin and quit after a while, when it's not fun anymore?

It's quite possible that this is all a ruse to build a Trump Tower in Washington DC, his own monument for eternity. :)

So he will need someone who can actually govern to put on appearance of governance and whom might that be if not Kasich? He could actually pick Jeb! as his running-mate to appease RNC. :D

I'm cool with that. Lord knows men haven't exactly done a bang up job of it.

She's a woman who wants to be president, so yes. So what? If your reason for voting for Trump is that he's a man, you're a bigger tool than I thought you were.:p

68custom 05-04-2016 09:31 PM

My friend was always a big Hillary supporter and said that a women president would have a completely different perspective. I think he may be right, and its not like we have any female presidents with which to compare.

It's funny Finn.

Last year it was you that was the Hillary hater and I was a staunch supporter.

This year it's the opposite.

That too would be awesome... ho w about this one... he puts Palin back on the ticket as the VP?

That would be the best!

The end of the GOP no doubt.

Hill is old and beat up but she'd then win and the country would move left with the GOP dead.

A SCOTUS that was left not right, a dead GOP.

Long live Sarah!

Hill would get my vote in this scenario no questions asked.

wait a minute.... but women can vote for Hill because she is a women? They are not tools?

Can't have it both ways....

Plus Hill is running around the country telling women to vote for her because she is a women. What does that make her? .... Oh yeah, a politician...;)

No, she isn't.
