Obama Has Decimated His Own Party Unlike Any Other Modern President

And Hillary is running on continuing to build on the Obama legacy.

http://observer.com/2015/11/obama-ha...ern-president/

Quote:

On nearly every level of government, Democrats have lost more seats under Mr. Obama than under any other two-term modern president dating back to Dwight Eisenhower. (This includes the dual presidencies of John F. Kennedy/Lyndon B. Johnson and Richard Nixon/Gerald Ford.)

Under Mr. Obama, Democrats have lost 13 net Senate seats, 69 House seats, 11 governorships, a whopping 913 state legislature seats and 30 state legislature chambers, according to analysis from the Washington Post.

That makes Mr. Obama the overseer of the biggest loss in Senate seats, House seats and state legislature seats of any of the past seven two-term presidencies, the second biggest loser of state legislature chambers (Mr. Nixon/Mr. Ford lost 31 to Mr. Obama’s 30) and fourth biggest loser of governorships (tied with Bill Clinton).

Funny what being black will result in. That, and congressional redistricting after the last census.

bobabode 03-31-2016 01:31 PM

SMH... Our resident Bernie Bro has officially lost his marbles.

Sending a donation to the Hillary Victory Fund in hizzoner.

MrPots 03-31-2016 01:37 PM

Obama, IMO is also one of the best and most important presidents in our history.

Aint' it wierd how things work out.......

icenine 03-31-2016 01:39 PM

I think the Tea Bag infused air of Alabama is finally getting to the OP.

donquixote99 03-31-2016 01:45 PM

Who decimated the party?

Rajoo 03-31-2016 01:50 PM

I think TJ is devastated. Bernie has an insurmountable task ahead, Hillarybots are gloating here, Trump is finally beginning to fade from Lewandowski's assault charge and his proposal to punish women for obtaining abortion. And worst of all Cruz is leading big in Wisconsin thanks to Scott Walker.

Let's give him a break for he doth not know what he says. :)

icenine 03-31-2016 02:02 PM

Come on Rajoo, I am a factor in TJs breakdown? Please...

One picture of Misfit Island from Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer and now I am a Hillarybot?

Ain't nothin' insurmountable about it. According to Quinnipiac, Hillary's lead in New York is down to 12% and the LA Times has her up by 11%. The nomination is still Hillary's to lose but it looks like she may indeed be losing it.

icenine 03-31-2016 02:14 PM

Us Moderate Progressives will come out in full force for Hillary when the primary comes to California. We will all be celebrating in my Hillary Comeback Thread!

Dondilion 03-31-2016 02:27 PM

The debacle of the last midterm is not Obama's fault. The Democrats at the time lacked balls...they failed to rally with him.

If guns were illegal, would it be proper to punish people for obtaining guns?
Seems to me if something is illegal, there should be a punishment for it or there's no point in making it illegal.
Wasn't a valid question anyway, as it's not up to the POTUS to decide what the punishment should be, or even if abortion should be illegal. Those decisions are to be made by the legislative and judicial branches.
Why Trump didn't answer accordingly is the only thing that disturbs me. Leads me to conclude that perhaps he does think he has the power to make these decisions.

Since when is abortion illegal to obtain in the US? Some states restrict them thanks to the GOP Bible thumpers, but one can go to another state and have an abortion legally.

Who appointed Debbie 'what's her name' Schultz as head of DNC and now she is fighting for her own survival and has now gone crying to Obama. Of course if Hillary becomes President, her stock will rise again.

Why didn't they rally with him?

I'll tell you why.

Because he has been a huge disappointment to the left with his Republican Lite governing, that's why. And Hillary is promising what? More of the same, that's what.

Yeh, who wants the unemployment at -5%, Detroit selling more cars than ever, stock market over 17k, vastly less body bags being off loading at AndrewsAFB, ISIS on the run and my pad back to '05 values instead of where it was when I bought it in '00 like GWB accomplished in '07?

I'm curious, did you make a profit when you sold your house in Florida last year, Tom?

I just checked though my credit card statements and I'm in to Bernie to the tune of $375 so far. Ima send him another $25 tomorrow and make it an even $400. That's double my former record of $200 that I sent Obama during his 2008 campaign. I only sent him $100 in 2012 because he didn't live up to expectations.

Kewl. I guess all that Fla. asphalt stuck to your workboots counted for something. :)

Look, when all is said and done, we're on the same side against the forces of evil exemplified by Cruz and T'Rumpf.

Shitting on the best president in my lifetime makes me want get out some Henry's roofing tar and a feather pillow for you. ;)

Agreed, though I like his style in the second term than the first. I contributed quite a bit for his first term but none for the second, so not a smart investor I make. :)

It was not implied. My post provided an analogy with guns- "IF guns were illegal..."
See, abortions are not now illegal, and neither are guns, that's why the word "if" is in there. "If" is a conjunction introducing a conditional clause.

Tom Joad 03-31-2016 04:51 PM

I might just send that contribution tonight.

They're giving out Birdie Stickers if you do it before the midnight deadline. :)

Truman got sucked into that stupid Korean mess.

Ike I'll give you, last good president until Obama.

Kennedy was right to want to missiles out of Cuba, but went about it clumsily and nearly got the world blown up.

Johnson: Vietnam.

Clinton: welfare cuts and crazy mandatory war-on-drugs sentences.

Many were sitting Democrats who shied away from the president and were swept away.

That strategy did not seem sensible to me. There were positive Obama accomplishments which were good ralling points. Instead elected
Democrats were spooked by the noise (especially on Obamacare) coming from the Repubs. No balls!

Harry was doing his job.

Obama's legacy will in a large part depend on how devastating our next financial system trauma is. If it's as bad as or worse than our last one his doing nothing to keep it from recurring will damn him in the eyes of many.

Blame his treasury secretary for that one - he advised Clinton to sign it . Greenspan can share in the blame as well.
