The Donald vs. The Pope

http://www.wsj.com/articles/pope-fra...od=rss_US_News

Personally, I'm beginning to wonder if Trump is even human.

Dave

Rajoo 02-18-2016 12:38 PM

I was toying with the idea of posting this Dave and glad that you did so that I can pontificate on this issue. :)

First and foremost, religious leaders with any significant following should stay the hell out of politics. Politics is human and not divine. Any and every political system or government headed by a religious leader is fucked up from the word go. I don't need to provide examples.

But, after the Pope holding a massive Mass across the border and then making this comment will only help Trump in the immediate term, especially with the independents. I will be anxiously waiting for Trump's response.

+1 on that.

And here is Trump's response:

I doubt Trump supporters care one way or the other about what the Pope says.

bobabode 02-18-2016 07:18 PM

The latino vote will be 100% democratic now. Thanks Donald, you vulgar talking yam. :)

Dondilion 02-18-2016 07:30 PM

The Pope is over stepping.

He is rude.

Pio1980 02-18-2016 07:34 PM

The Pope spoke his mind as does the Donald, but one is in selfless service of his flock and the other a vacuous egotistical asshole.

The pope should spend more time cleaning up his awful pedophile mess.

Exactly. I haven't heard the squid claim that the molesters aren't Christian. What a P.O.S.

No doubt this undercut any moral authority the Church may have held or claimed, and rightly so for the centuries long betrayal of trust of it's faithful. At least this Pope is attempting to accept responsibility and clean house.

It is a little odd hearing a Republican bitch about mixing religion and politics. Mixing religion and politics is the foundation of American conservatism. Listen to all of the GOP candidates from Carson to Cruz to Rubio to Bush to Kasich to even Trump. They all wear the religion on their sleeves, or at least pretend to. They just hate to have their bluff called. The beliefs of today's GOP, while overtly embracing Christianity, go against many of the fundamental tenets of the faith. Though I personally don't like mixing religion and politics, I enjoy watching Trump being called out for his bullshit.

So you think all conservatives are evangelicals? I bet you still think Trump has no chance either.
I'm falling out of my chair laughing at you .

Nope, but all Republican Presidential candidates go out of their way to appeal to evangelicals by proclaiming their faith, even if they seemingly have none (e.g., Trump quoting 2 Corinthians). What's amazing is how many in the GOP base buy the bullshit these charlatans are selling.

Bam. And this Pope may present himself to be more human that his predecessors, but in the end, his only real goal is to preserve another dynasty. I could never bring myself to follow any spiritual leader regardless of their lofty perch.

So what? Sounds like you found God today with the Pope preaching his BS on the border.
What's BS is how you think you're better than Trump. Do you believe you're better than Cuban since it looks like he's fishing for the VP spot?

finnbow 02-18-2016 09:28 PM

It's noteworthy that Pope Pius XI has been widely criticized for not speaking out against impending Fascism in Italy in the '30's and now Francis is being criticized for speaking out a Fascist wannabee.

I'm not religious, but I enjoy watching Trump taking heat. It makes him all the more entertaining.

Your a nut. Nobody cares except people like you who like to rip everybody else's choices and support nobody.
Do you think Cuban is Conservative? Do you think Trump can win? Put it on the record.

Additionally a major bright spot for Catholicism in America is the Hispanic.

The Catholic religion in the US is on the wane re Italians and Irish.

Brazen self interest underlies the Pope's open southern border push.

Of course. The Pope is an ambitious businessman like any other. Beyond the piety and hullabaloo, every religion is a business that must have a growing membership to survive. And they all compete for membership, because more members brings more resources.

Look at "Prosperity Gospel" and tell me that isn't just a blatant effort to exploit greed to draw people into the fold............

Different modus operandi, same goals.

Looks like The Donald has walked his comments back a little.

"During a CNN televised town hall, he said the Pontiff's statement was actually 'softer' than what the media had first reported "

I never once stated that I thought Kasich had a chance, though I hope he does. He and Jeb! are probably the only two adults left in the GOP race and I can't support Jeb! as he has enlisted his brother's foreign policy team.

To the extent I like Kasich, it has more to do with being a process of elimination than a full-throated endorsement. I guess I'm just a raging moderate who can't take any candidate on the fringes seriously, be it Trump or Bernie.

Who cares? People who enjoy watching him take heat are stupid. If it wasn't for these idiots, he would get no heat, no press, & probably would be losing to Cruz & Rubio.
The people who can't stand him are gonna get him elected. This is the exact same thing that happens here with Sheriff Joe. The Left can't figure out how to get their shoelace out of a knot.

Kasich is a right wing extremist pretending to be a moderate in the hopes that there is a niche for him there. The problem for him is that there are two other right wing extremists, Bush and Rubio playing the same game.

Of the three Kasich is out of money and he has no hope of getting any more because the big donors have decided that Rubio is the horse they are going to bet on. So he's fucked.

That could well be. It means that I will likely vote for Hillary (while holding my nose).

While certainly conservative, neither Jeb! nor Kasich are extremists and Rubio is too wet behind the ears and inconsistent to accuse of even having a rigid ideology. He just has ambition without any core beliefs behind it.

No, you said Trump never had a chance. Again, it shows that you know nothing about who can get elected. Again, I'm laughing my a$$ off at you.

Moderates are for losers. It just means you are willing take whatever the clown wants to give you & that you support the status quo. You have no idea how that weird cat would act. The fact is he cloned Paul Ryan from his own DNA. I didn't know you supported Paul Ryan.

I see why you would think losers like Jeb & weird Ohio dude are adults. It has become apparent that you only relate to Gravy Trainers who couldn't keep a real job & who's only talent is campaigning.

Your posts don't come close to making sense if you look at the demographics since Trump has split the evangelical vote.

The fact is all of you on the Left have not only lost your minds & become unhinged over Trump, You are actually believing deep down he's going to win. Watching people like you trip all over themselves is pure entertainment. :) Please...oh God please, keep putting heat on Trump.

Good luck with your "adults" winning anything other than a concession speech.

Is Mark Cuban a Conservative or a Lefty?

That is why they are mad with Christie. I was watching Fox and one of the presenter was crying: Christie was not going anywhere and he f#@ked up Rubio.

Rubio is damaged goods.

This is not about "everybody else"...it's about you.
You made the statements about Trump not being able to compete, about Trump not being serious, about Trump not willing to release his financials and blah blah...blah...& blah. You have no clue & your BS has tolerant stacked to a point you have zilch in the way of credibility.

Stick with your losers, & continue to rip all of the leaders. It just shows how odd & out of touch (on this subject) you are. In the end, you are helping them skate to victory.
