I love this! It's a real 'Art's council' touch!

Finally, a single Evangelical leader steps away from the evil one. Reprehensible that they were ever allies, but then Evangelicals are mostly hypocrites anyhow.

If this exodus keeps up (let's hope so), the Trump administration will look like Trump Inc.
Hope that the GOP members of Congress all get a case of the runs standing around and do nothing about the Trump spectacle.

He's really good at bankruptcies. He's actively bankrupting whatever morality/humanity the GOP had. Couldn't happen to a more deserving bunch. When he said "Only I can do it," I think he was right. Bravo to our Pariah President.

donquixote99 08-18-2017 05:54 PM

You know, a quick Amendment 25 solution suddenly looks a lot more possible than it did a week ago. The process is not neat, however: http://theweek.com/articles/718950/c...mp-from-office

Hardest part would be getting that 2/3 majority in the House. I did the math. Would take all the Democrats, plus 40% of the Republicans.

Chicks 08-18-2017 06:17 PM

POTUS is headed to Camp David Duke. Plenty of clean white sheets.

I'm thinking the GOP was already bankrupt which is why/how he won their candidacy. That he won the election is also a reflection of this in addition to showing that the Electoral College is a relic of our past long overdue for a major overhaul.

No, the 25th admendment is meant to be implemented due to medical impairment or incapacity to carry out duties. Don't allow politics to come into play here, it will set a precedent all will rue.

Trump never was capable of being President.

The clean way is to impeach him, or to ensure his varied business enterprises crash and burn financially. He will resign when the balance sheet pivots upside down.

donquixote99 08-18-2017 08:23 PM

As you say, Trump is incapable. Can't do the job is can't do the job. Don't think this would be a misuse of the 25th.

The great advantage is that unlike impeachment, the House does not have to initiate the 25th. Assuming the generals and the bankers of the cabinet decide enough is too much, among themselves, they can get the ball rolling, without initial public debate.

The disadvantage is that 2/3 nut in the House. With impeachment, 50%+1 does the job there.

bobabode 08-18-2017 08:39 PM

Still think Pence would be worse. Much worse.

Pio1980 08-18-2017 08:45 PM

Conservatives would have voted Trump to get Pence in the copilot seat, aside from voting party first.

He'd certainly be no picnic. More politically destructive--he'd likely mess up social programs and taxes a bunch, with actual ability to get things passed. Less destructive of trade, less chance of big new war. Less morally destructive--less corrupt and less corrupting, not an anti-president on twitter, no aid and comfort to nazis. Prob less likely to tear down the EPA....

Trump is mercifully incompetent and fun to laugh at. Pence? Not so much.

President Trump and first lady Melania Trump have elected not to attend the annual Kennedy Center Honors in December amid a political backlash among those who will be feted at the event.

The first family will not participate "to allow the honorees to celebrate without any political distraction," White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said in a statement Saturday morning.

The announcement comes as three of the five honorees — television producer Norman Lear, singer Lionel Richie and dancer Carmen de Lavallade — said they would boycott the traditional White House reception related to the celebration.

Saying he and the missus won't attend the ceremony is another petty example of his inability to fulfill his presidential responsibilities.

Love it! I don't want to see Trump or his moronic, dwindling, flaccid base desecrating that hallowed hall by the Potomac.

The Idiot-in-Chief tweets:

President Trump punted his first two attempts at a tweet Saturday, and the internet began kicking up jokes about the snafus.

While Trump tried to address protests and counter-protests across the country, he got caught up on a typo, writing “heel” instead of “heal” — twice.

“Our great country has been divided for decade, but it will come together again.Sometimes protest is needed in order to heel, and heel we will!” Trump wrote...

More Trump cronyism. Icahn quit as Trump advisor before conflict of interest was exposed. How much money do these rich old assholes need? Why do they feel compelled to commit illegal acts to get more? Greedy old fools.

If the election was tomorrow, this would be good. In any case, approval-wise, Charlottesville has been a Republican disaster, which is certainly good.

The one where is calls-out anti-police protestors is the one that bugs me. The real battle right now, I think, is behind-the-scenes, the push by the right to get the cops firmly on their side.

Not sure how you figure that when even NPR says that 62% favor leaving the memorials alone.

The town we live in is heavily Republican, by far the most Republican in our county or East Bay. I am sure that an overwhelming majority of the people living here voted to preserve the Confederate monuments.

46% or so think Charlottesville was the left's fault.

46% or so think it was the right's fault.

I'm sure your explanation is that 46% are racist.
