Yeah, if he would have been president in 1941, when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor, he would have invaded Brazil???

In 1941 we knew who the Japanese were, and where they lived. And we did attack the Germans too.
I still believe that the only reason we attacked Iraq was because we could. And by doing so, we placed ourselves in a position to put pressure on the entire Middle East, Iran and Pakistan in particular. And I also think that perhaps the Bush Administration was too ambitious in their plans.
But we'll never know, as the current administration has determined to leave before the job is completed. And they may be doing the correct thing, for all that I know.
I suppose time will tell. If nothing else, it will give the historians something to argue about.

You are correct, apparently the Obama Administration has extended it's deadline for withdrawal.

I agree. My mom always said "there's different kinds of smart". She was so right. I got one kind. At least I think I do. GW had at least one kind in spades. Amazing in his ability to motivate people and move agenda forward. And *that* is what politics is. He was a great politician. He got things to happen. That is the job. Believe what you believe and work to move the country in the direction you think is right. For all the talk, this is I think, exactly what he did. And he did it very well.
But back to the different kinds of smart- I really do think, though I may be wrong, that GW is a "true believer". It may be an act to get a vote, but I don't think so. I think he is some brand of literal interp Bible Christian. And it would not surprise me at all to find that he sees himself as a character in a biblical passion play. Even if you are a supporter, you have to agree he is somewhat dilusional.
So, who knows? I didn't hear him say it. But I do think it could be.
Eh- it is what it is and we are where we are. Thing to do now is look at the situation we have and try our best to move forward. I like the guy making the calls now at leat 50% better than the last guy. But only because we seem to come up with the same answers more often than I did with the last guy.
Take care,
Ed

George Bush should be tried for War Crimes and when he is found guilty, be locked-up forever. He is singularly responsible for destroying more lives here and abroad than is almost imaginable (as well as his deliberate financial malfeasance). Cheney and Rumsfeld are a close second and they should suffer the same consequences.
The right now blames the deficit on Obama, but they are so quick to cover-up the mis-deeds of their own fearless leader; it was his Administration that behaved more like the Fascists that the Right is now trying to portray as Obama (frankly, they're [the Right] are too stupid to keep their ideologies straight...they portray Obama as Hitler and call him a Socialist in the same breath). They don't even know and understand their own history--idiots.
