People from Germany or Italy or anywhere can't just wander into a polling place and vote. The thing called 'registration' exists. Always used to be, you didn't show an ID, but you recited your name and address, and the poll worker had to find what you said on the list for that polling place. Then, if you weren't marked as having voted already, you got to vote.

Simple. No problems.

Exactly. Conservatives have always cried foul when they lose. They bitched that JFK only won because in certain places even the dead vote Democratic. But, ask them to prove it........................

Then you will hear all about how much you hate America.

I can attest to that as a longtime pollworker here in California.

My question would be that if they are illegal, do they even care to vote? I would bet not. If they wanted to vote I would also bet they became legal. I just can't see that long of term thinking by the people who came over illegally. They are mostly worried about surviving the day and tomorrow. Not what happens to our country next year or the year after. My$0.02 worth

The point is, that simple system would block your casual alien from voting. You gotta register. Who wants to register illegally? It's kind of asking for it. Illegals tend to keep their heads down.

How may people are going to go through the hoops, at personal risk for prison and/or deportation, to do election fraud? Thousands and thousands, in town after town after town, tipping elections right and left? Only in Alt reality.

I never have. I always take that card they mail you because with my full name it is so much easier to hand the card to them rather than trying to spell it for them.

Every state I have lived in has required a ID of some type to vote.
Here, a driver's licence is sufficient to confirm registered voter identification. Other forms may also be acceptable.
Areas with high population turnover may have unique problems with registration, citizens with a long standing residency shouldn't have problems voting, unless imposed thru rules changes targeting them.
