Obama Just Told the Truth!

Imagine my surprise hearing the Class Warrior in Chief start talking like Jeffrey Immelt today.. This guy is highly programmable. Just wind him up and threaten him with re-election and he finds a brain..

He said (and I paraphrase since it was 10 minutes ago)...

1) Overall, there are 4 applicants for every job. In science and technology, the reverse is true. (that's probably slightly mangled, but the teleprompter is NEVER wrong).

2) Only 14% of undergrads are enrolling in Science and Engineering. And only 20% of those make it to a degree.. Do the math..

I know you think that it's the CEOs that are avoiding the "hard stuff". But it's much more systemic than that. If it took a sexy, aggressive GOVT effort to revive our kids interest in the sciences and engineering -- I'd be all for it.

YUP -- a new space program or robotic manufacturing initiative WOULD be better than bombing 4 countries a day...
