Video of one of the first 2 or 3 performances of Zappa's Yellow Shark. Amazing!

The album grows on me and sort of mellows a bit as it progresses.

I have heard people complain about the mastering but it sounds good on all my systems.

Because my wife was watching a movie I was listening to it with cans. It will get the full stereo tonight.

Interesting.

Zappa was an interesting character. I know little of his music. A neighbor introduced me to it with the Joe's Garage series. We giggled to the dirty words and back then I thought that was all there was to it.

Later I recall hearing an interview with Zappa and he spoke of the importance, the leadership, of a percussionist in a band. That memory refreshed tonight when I watched this video. When Zappa held the baton during the first ten minutes the music seemed to be about a discussion in the language of percussion, e.g. leadership in a musical dimension. The music became softer and more traditional Zappa after he handed off the baton. The conductor did old Zappa better than Zappa did.

Thanks for sharing the video. Fun stuff.

I like this post-Visconti album. Bolan put out a lot of albums in the last years of his life.
Some are hit and miss but all have some great tunes. No body else has ever sounded quite like T.Rex.

Glorious! I nearly cried.

If Zappa didn't go to heaven, why in the hell would anyone else want to go there?
