Ever notice?

How bright red Republican right leaning states are always doing great economically while the liberal run states are in ruins? I wonder what causes that?

Actually, I haven't noticed. What I have noticed that a disproportionate amount of the nation's GDP comes from "blue" states. Take a look at per capita income by state and the top dozen or so are nearly all blue and the bottom dozen are nearly all red.

No never.

I have noticed that the red states have very little GDP compared to the blue states and way more representation than the red states. A bad situation for the future growth of our country.

Red states also are net recipients of federal spending. In other words, more Federal dollars flow into red states than taxpayer dollars flow out. With blue states that's reversed. They pay out more than they receive.

Divorce rates are also higher. In fact, the state with the lowest divorce rate is that bastion of the liberal elite, Massachusetts.

TD - Study this chart for a moment before you gloat about the red states. OTOH, as the saying goes "Ignorance is bliss."

While you're at it, take a peek at the bottom dozen on this list.

There you go bashing America again. Something must be wrong with that chart, because it doesn't show that the U.S. is number 1.

Actually, I think the state ranking that surprised me the most was New Mexico. With Santa Fe being an artsy type place, I just assumed that the state would have a higher percentage of educated citizens. North Dakota's ranking kind of surprised me too, but I guess there isn't much to do there in the winter except study.

Regards,

D-Ray

I think it would have more to do which blue states you point to; Ohio and Michigan? Absolutely those two states have serious problems. But, wouldn't that have more to do with those states being primarily manufacturing states, and the effects of NAFTA and globalization?

Regards,
Dave

NAFTA was OK when it was just the U.S. and Canada because wages were similar aa were labor laws (at least until they let Choa muck about with them). Mexican wages are far too low and labor laws non-existant and there is wher the problems started. When we started letting foreign governments dump steel and other goods with no countervailing duties, we lost. The ironic part was the government did let the lumber companies impose a 15% duty on Canadian lumber over some sillyass argument that the Canadian government built some roads into timberland.
