Train Stops

The train doesn't stop here anymore.

Where does that observation take root?

It takes root in paint. Because hydrants only dance in the moonlight and vests have no sleeves.

There was a warning sign on the doors of the German railway wagons:

"Nicht öffnen bevor der Zug hält"

"(in French)"

"(in Italian)"

"Do not open before the train stops"

Those were the days when the railway wagons got no automatic doors.

Ed, this is the answer to your question, it is from the Book of Changes:

"The Tao is forever changing - alteration, movement without rest."

Understanding may be aided by not having English as one's first language. To you, lots of things sound like that--you are used to teasing meaning out of elliptical idioms and novel metaphors.

Treating it as a serious statement, the decline of small towns generally due to limited opportunities and the exodus of younger citizens.
