Look Who's Back!

A brilliant satire that asks what Hitler would do if he woke up in 2014 Germany. Now on Netflix!

Love this movie! It is funny, and provocative. Hitler adapts quickly. He gets on TV in no time, makes a big splash. His first TV appearance is absolutely brilliant--totally in character, I think. The man can work an audience. Hitler is shown as, with some exceptions, having an uncanny ability to identify and appeal to people's resentments and prejudices.

There's a lot of looniness in this movie, but the Hitler character is always played totally straight, and very convincingly. There are a number of 'reality' sequences in which the character interacts with people on the street, and even modern 'national so@ialists.' 'Hitler's' improvisational portrayal in these sequences is always dead-on. Many people react very positively.

The climax rooftop scene makes the movies big point, loud and clear.

My pleasure, Don.

Watching a documentary right now, 'Nat King Cole: Afraid of the Dark'

Funny story, my Mom and a friend of hers took the old Red Car trolley all the way from the San Fernando Valley down to Newport Beach to see Nat playing at the Rendezvous Ballroom. Her green eyes still sparkle when she recounts leaning against the grand piano and flirting with Nat King Cole. That was back in the '40s. She's turning 90 this October.

If you listen to early Ray Charles records, you van hear how strongly he was influenced by the old Nat "King" Cole Trio records.
