Family Cat Saves Boy From Dog Attack

Some of you have probably seen this. It's gone a bit viralish on the intertubes but I think it deserves a second closer look. Watch what this cat does. Watch it in detail. There is no doubt whatsoever that its purpose was to protect the boy.

First, the cat intervenes. It furiously throws itself at the dog, stopping the attack on the boy and then drives the dog away [i]but not before looking back to the boy to make sure he's okay. After chasing the dog away, the cat returns to the boy and accompanies him and his mother back indoors.

I'm definitely a dog person so this whole thing, bad dog, good cat, runs contrary to my prejudices but that's one hell of a cat!

That dog needs to be put down.

And the owners need to be sued plus face criminal charges for allowing it to run at large.

Apparently, the dog will be put down. I don't know about criminal charges though. This is Bakersfield, after all (which sorta explains why these folks had two surveillance cameras trained on their driveway).

That's no excuse for allowing a vicious dog to run loose.

I agree and never said it was. I was suggesting that it's the sort of thing that goes unnoticed in a redneck city like Bakersfield.

And, as far as I'm concerned, there's no excuse for keeping a vicious dog, loose or otherwise.
