Bernie Sanders spars with gun-control activist

http://america.aljazeera.com/article...-activist.html

A reasonable approach to the gun issue IMO.

The more I learn about him, the more I like him.

Quote:
“I come from a state that has virtually no gun control and it turns out one of the safest states in the country. I come from a state where tens and tens of thousands of people hunt and do target practice. I understand that guns in my state are different than guns in Chicago or Los Angeles,” Sanders said. “People in urban America have got to appreciate that the overwhelming majority of people who hunt know about guns and respect guns, and are law-abiding people, that’s the truth. And people in rural America have got to understand that in an urban area, guns mean something very, very different.”

“We will not succeed on this terribly important issue if we continue the cultural warfare between urban America and rural America, and I think I’m in a good place to bridge that gap,” Sanders said.

I simply cannot picture Mr. Sanders in camouflage chomping beef jerky by the campfire.

But the above makes sense.

Who does that?

Most hunters I know stay at a motel, then hit the Shoney's all you can eat breakfast bar before heading out to their tree stands on their four wheelers.

Those aren't hunters - they couldn't stalk a doughnut at Krispy Kreme.

I never got the hunting as a sport thing. If you hunt to eat, OK.

If someone needs that hunting/life-death challenge, let him/her join the Special Forces and get dropped in one of the many assorted shitholes around the world where the animals shoot back.

Me neither.

I don't want to kill innocent animals.

I prefer to let the psychopaths that work at the slaughter houses do that dirty work for me.

Psychopaths need jobs, too. Not all of them can work for the IRS.
