Tell me about it. When Florence and I met she was managing a 7000 sq ft dress shop. The company had bigger plans for her but she was putting in 10, 11 and 12 hour days. She made the mistake of asking what I thought of her position. I did the math showed what she was actually getting per hour and suggest a location where the management could stick the job. The were a little pissed with me because they lost someone they really valued. If that was the case they should have paid her what she was worth. I find management people here extremely short sighted, probably the quarterly reporting crap.

Back in '65 or '66 when I was taking Economics 101 in Junior college I can remember the Prof saying how the standard work week had been 72 hours (six 12 hour days) back in the late 1800's and how it was now 40 hours a week due to increased productivity. And then he said "By the time you are my age (he looked to be late 40's or so) you'll probably only have to work 20-25 hours a week".

Well, it never happened.

Instead we are going back in the other direction.

So what's the deal?

Greed, pure and simple.

The amazing thing is it seems so good and right in his universe, he doesn't think twice about saying it.

Anyone who doesn't think there a bunches of parallel dimensions just needs to listen to people more. Reality varies wildly.

Actually Tom it was seven days but on Sunday you only worked ten hours as they gave you two hours to go to church.
