It's down to he final week of the election and it looks like there's a strong chance Romney will lose. And a cabal of far right wingers in the congress and the military decide they just aren't having it. Somebody has to step in and "save America". Americans wake up one morning, days before the election to hear, "Sorry folks the election has been suspended. President Obama has been arrested."

Think such a thing is really all that far fetched?

Similar scenario in my nightmares except I've always joked (since Ronnie Raygun) that I'll be out in the Mojave in a re-education tent city spending my final years digging slit trenches. What's worse is that now in my nightmare is that DJ is in the next bunk reminding me of my comments about herding tarantulas and scorpions and laughing his ass off.

They wouldn't even need to be so overt. Just engineer another "economic collapse"...run everyone out of their homes and take over through a fait accompli.

Stemming from the previous administrations "Ownership Society", in which we were promised more American families would be able to realize the dream of home ownership? (Among other things.) Yeah, that could fit into the scenario quite nicely. Then, of course, it becomes necessary to declare an emergency and institute "economic marshall law".
