Ginni Thomas founded a nonprofit with funding from Harlan Crow weeks ahead of the Citizens United ruling to advance conservative causes

Except Supreme Court Justices are not supposed to engage in or be receptive to lobbying.

The whole system is one gigantic farce. The judges are preselected and nurtured by political parties based on their history of sympathetic rulings.
There is an implicit understanding of a quid pro quo. That is once a judge gets a supreme chair such judge is not expected to stray too far from the line of the party which so vigorously supported him or she.

With loyalty guaranteed with continued emoluments that can be taken away for cause, if a justice is corrupt enough to let that happen. Yep, it's a system all right. But it wasn't always thus. Anyone remember Earl Warren? Basically, if you have dirt in the White House, he'll appoint dirt to the Supreme Court. That is the source of the trouble.

Then you know what the fix is. Shitcan the Constitution, which was one gigantic farce for the benefit of elite Englishmen when it was written.

A brilliant move by TV host John Oliver offering $1M per year and a $2.4M luxury coach asking him to retire.

Clarence Thomas has 30 days to resign if he wants millions from John Oliver

Quote:
When it comes to Supreme Court reform, John Oliver is tired of just talking about term limits and ethics codes. Instead, the late-night talk show host said he’s taking a page out of the playbook used by the rich and powerful, who the comedian said routinely lavish gifts on public servants to curry favor.

“If we’re going to keep the bar of accountability this low, perhaps it’s time to exploit that low bar the same way billionaires have successfully done for decades,” Oliver said on Sunday’s episode of HBO’s “Last Week Tonight,” before announcing the offer he had for Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas: $1 million per year if he steps down from his post immediately.

Oliver is also throwing in a brand new, $2.4 million motor coach that’s outfitted with a king-size bed, four televisions and a fireplace — a potential deal sweetener for Thomas, who has come under fire for receiving significant gifts and favors from a network of wealthy friends and patrons.

Here's an old scandal. Corrupt Clerk of the Supreme Court wrote a header to a decision, and misrepresented the content. This was in 1886. The whole 'Supreme Court precedent' for the idea of corporate personhood, the idea that gave us Citizens United, is a lie. https://hartmannreport.com/p/have-we...19s&open=false

Hey ya'll. Just curious what you were thinking.

Haven't read this thread, but I suspect ya'll are thinking that the states should be able to take Trump off the ballot . For the sake of democracy. Laugh out loud.
