I cannot see the need for any weapon bigger than a handgun either. I can also understand the frustration with the nra for backing laws allowing it.
Now comes the But part...
I think the NRA would view any gun law as a weakness.
I can see your point of view on this and i cannot say your wrong.
The mistrust is high on both sides. I am a firm believer that any new laws will not help with what we are seeing.
I think that any parent that has a firearm accessible to anyone but himself, in this day and age is stupid. Do we need a law to tell people this???
We sure need more education, because this stuff did not happen when i was growing up.

By the way, my invasion in a heartbeat, was not meant from another country, it was meant from within. Gangs and any lawless group would have no repercussion. Chicago has the most restrictive gun laws in the country. The lawless could give a crap about the law.

What I propose is that you can have bolt action rifles and pump shotguns for hunting. That way you have to work the action for every round.

For handguns you can have revolvers.

And for semi-autos I will allow 1911's in .45 ACP with the standard 7 round magazines because that's an American classic. You can even have a .22 conversion kit for cheap target practice.

And we have to do something to level the playing field for poor people.

What I propose is that we have a federal program called Obamaguns where we issue everyone their choice of either a Smith and Wesson Model 10 Military and Police .38 special, or a Colt 1911 in .45 ACP. These will be free to anyone.

As for permits, we don't need no stinking permits. Everyone can carry anywhere, at any time, open or concealed. The only exception will be persons that have been convicted of a first degree violent felony. No guns for them.

I propose a zero tolerance for violations.

The punishment for your first conviction is to be hanged by the neck until you are dead. There will be no second offenders.
