Eliminating the age requirement and minimum wage would solve all of this, right?

Huffopo is a center-left-Liberal aggregator and everyone knows that and can parity-check anything that turns up there for bias if wanted, but, like Fox, can be veritable in spite of editorial bias. It does usually vary with topic and contributor.
Check Huffpo's story on the cattle-grazing confrontation for a suprizingly neutral article;

Growing up, I worked in a lot of jobs on the service industry. This type of thing has been going on for decades.... Especially in the food industry.

Perhaps it is just more blatant now than it used to be.

About 20 years ago when my oldest son was in college he got a summer job washing dishes at a Denny's that was open all night. On the first Saturday night that he worked it slowed down around midnight and the night manager told him to clock out, but not to leave. "Just sit in the break room until 2am because we always get a rush when the bars close and we'll need you to clock back in then". He was offered another summer job about two days later doing construction and he quit Denny's.

I had a boss on a shitty, low wage job tell me that one day. "Clock out, but don't go anywhere. I'm gonna need you again in a few minutes." He says.

I clocked out alright. But, that "few minutes" expired about 27 years ago.

I guess I'm fired?
