Regardiung problems with deflation: throw in that even sound business are clobbered on paper because whenever they make anything, it proceeds to decrease in value. Takiing a loss on all inventory with each tick of the clock makes business even less willing to produce, laying people off and killing more demand.

Only accounting done in 'constant dollars' would have a prayer of sort-of accurately portraying the business, and that would be all distorted because the indexes used to adjust dollar values would introduce their own inaccuracies.

Thats a good thing your doing, pay things off. We are looking at a stock market bubble right now. Most talk is it will crash soon. my Personal thought is around september but we have to watch what the fed is doing. We want to know if they continue taper QE, or if they decide to increase QE. You see they are stuck and we never felt the true severity of the financial crises yet. They just inflated everything with stimulus and QE.

I have also been thinking we have recessions every 8-10 years or so. Well we have not even rebounded off the last one are we going to roll right into the next one?

Sounds like another economist from the Romneyite school here^

Let the American auto industry go belly up, let the banks close up their doors and let Wall St crash, it's just the market making an 'adjustment'. No big deal. That is until your paycheck bounces...

Now he'll come back with some smartass remark as how 401k's are a bad investment and we shouldn't be relying on them. Unfortunately, it is the only game in town for matching funds from the employer.

Mine is about where it was before 2008. So basically I lost 6 years of growth. Well, not so much lost, it was transferred to wall street billionaires with the blessing of our government.
