Nope Don they are Bush Business Furniture, a very good knock down furniture kit. The Bush company is one of the better ones and no relation to Dubya AFAIK.

What kind of seat ist that? Stair lift? Mummy has two stair lifts, they cost a bunch of money, but we urgently had to purchase them.

Yes Chris, some years back Florence fell down the stairs. As luck would have it apart from bruises and aches she did not break any bones. I was not about to see that happen again so we called Acorn. Their first price was $17,500.00 and when the salesman saw the look on my face he called his boss. So then the price came down to $13,500.00. I did some research and found these chair lifts at a Medical Supply house. They are made here and I was quoted $6,500.00 for all four. Our staircases have a landing and a 90 degree turn part way up. I sent them the measurements and a week later the salesman called and said they were on the way. I said but we have not paid you I will send a check right away. He said that he thought we were paying by credit card so he took $500 off. They are made by Summit but I installed them myself. Since the motors are DC they have brushes and one day one chair simply stopped so I replaced the brushes and it is good as gold.

Thank you Rob for this picture. It is interesting. So Florence is actually not in the second floor yet when the stair lift is up? We had exactly the same situation. So we needed a stair lift with a curve. This made it more expensive than the second stair lift which goes down to the basement.
It is sooooooo great that your Florence has a stair lift! This makes her feeling safe for sure!

Yes the curved ones are indeed expensive and also take a lot of room at the curve. These lifts we have are equipped with Call/Send switches at either end so if the chair is on the 1st floor and she is on the 2nd she can 'call' it, or I can 'send' it.

Looks like this.
Mummy got four remote controls in brackets. One mounted on the bottom of the lifts, and one on the top of the lifts. They are security devices - used for example in the case that the switch on the seat does not work, which never happened before. The seats also have an accumulator supply so that they also work in during a power failure (thunder storm etc.)

The Acorn model were that way but our Summit model is not, However during an extended power failure I can have our 8KW emergency generator operating in about 10 minutes so that is not a problem.

Well no work today as my hand is rather sore. Went out to feed Gabby the feral tom that recently adopted us. I was petting him with both hands and I guess he though I was going to grab him and the little bugger bit me between thumb and forefinger.
