I don't think so. The Barking Monster wanted to dominate the world. There was only one thing that could stop him - the total military bankruptcy of Nazi Deutschland which caused the "bedingungslose Kapitulation".

Putin's political interest in Russian ethnics, and his 'power chess' on his borders, all strike me as normal-enough Russian nationalism in action. Hitler dreamed of world domination on something of the old 'Roman Empire' model, but I don't think Putin has any such vapors.

Only a pre-emptive attack in the west would have stopped the German invasion of Poland in 1939. The Nazis had a literal lust for conquest.

Barking Monster = Vladimir Poopin? No, some may think so, but I am convinced that the BM's malicousness is absolutely unique in human history. And even just in the context of the Ukraine crisis, this equation is false. They are both a carcinom on our planet's anus but compared to the BM, Vladdy is rather benign.

As I've said before, I think the 'Nazis were uniquely evil' theory holds a danger. It leads one to conclude it can't happen again. But it can.

I would point to Idi Amin as a fellow with many Hitler-like qualities. Joseph Kony likewise qualifies, I'd say. You may say, well, they are third-world, and one is just an outlaw. But we already have a counter-example to the idea that an educated, modern nation will be immune to this sort of thing....

Any amateur military student could observe very early that the Kiev troops
needed to break out of the pocket. Why it took so long to give the orders?

The rebels would be foolish to allow so large a force with heavy weapons to
sit so deep inside their lines where they can easily pound surrounding areas.

Notes:
It is obvious to me that the Kiev troops are poorly led, probably even infiltrated by Russian sympathizers.

The regular Kiev soldiers have not the same zeal as the hard right wingers
such as the ASOV battalion. The rebels are very committed I guess because they are fighting on their farms and in their towns.

I don't wear boots and I didn't misunderstand you.

I do understand how a German who blames WWII on Adolf would need my comment explained. After all, as the Treaty of Versailles was being signed Marshal Foch said: "This is not peace. It is an armistice for 20 years."
