Kind of like the yellow light means speed up before it turns red.

Do you folks have cameras at intersections giving infractions for running red lights?

Here too. One local inner ring suburb netted 400K the first month, mostly from residents. Iirc they used pitchforks on city council.

I'm for vigilante action on the cameras, give me the 1984 heebie jeebies.

Absolutely. An interesting point on speed cameras. Here (Montgomery County, MD), they mail you a $40 ticket with a picture of the rear of your car. It doesn't matter who the driver is, the registered owner must pay. Somehow that just doesn't seem right. BTW, they are operated by a subsidary of Lockheed Martin who takes a cut.

They've had these cameras for at least 30 years in Germany. However, there the picture shows your face in the camera. If it's sent to you and the face ain't yours, you can (easily) contest it and not pay, without having to implicate the actual driver of your car.

It used to be here in MD there would be a solid rather than dashed white line so many yards before the actual intersection. If the light went yellow AFTER you were inside that solid line area you were to continue through the intersection.

In Montgomery County the speed limits are set by the County Treasurer.

Sounds like a conflict of interest to me.
